Chelsea's search for a good manger proving difficult. Sarri and Pochettino seems very difficult targets; it might be looking like Chelsea will make do without a big-name manager.

I agree Obinna. It seemed unrealistic from the start that we would be able to lure Poch but more disappointedly it doesn't appear that the club want Sarri. Maybe his foul mouth has cost him the job. It seems likely that he will sign an extension with Napoli. Seems like a good manager, I love his style of football. So to summarise, we can rule out Allegri, Tuchel, Enrique and I'll probably add Sarri and Poch to that list.

ED1, hope your doing good mate. When in doubt we always come running to you. Any ideas on the managers on our shortlist? It seems to me that we probably go for a low profile manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - why are you ruling out Enrique? I thought he was in the running myself. Lucien Favre would be the other name I believe to be a major possibility. Though there is always the issue of Conte actually still being in charge and might win the FA Cup.....}

16 May 2018 20:32:47
I assumed Enrique was out from the running given his wage demands and the fact that his front has gone really quiet. What sort of manager is Lucien Favre?

If Conte does end up staying then he needs a new squad, I'm not sure he has the backing of the players. Read something about Willian refusing to talk about his relationship with Conte citing another interview is required. This could be nothing but I wouldn't be surprised. Who is your money on Ed1?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Abramovich does not mind spending big money on his managers. Things have gone quiet because the cup final is coming up and the club are concentrating on that.

Favre is very good at dealing with difficult personalities, hence why he has done well at Nice with the likes of Balotelli. He is also assessing his options for next season, looking for a new challenge.

I think it will end up being the name of Enrique though to be honest.}

What’s your views on Favre Ed001 I know nothing of him any info would be greatly appreciated.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have only seen little bits of him, but he is very highly regarded and plays good football.}

Thankyou for the response mate just a waiting game now then.

I guess this question is almost impossible to give a definitive answer to but is it normal for a club like Chelsea to have a board meeting before an event like a cup final?

If we can’t get Sarri or Poch I’d give Morris a go over Enrique or Jardim.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 May 2018 15:56:48
Jody Morris is only 39 and it is highly unlikely they would even consider him and at that age, he gets it wrong and it could ruin what might be a great career. Another five years doing what he is doing, gradually brought into the first team fold should see what he has to offer.

Well done to RLC for making the World Cup squad. Hopefully he can stay fit and kick in for us next year. Places up for grabs in midfield.

‘I WANT GOOD PLAYERS (NEXT SEASON) BECAUSE I WANT TO WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE NEXT SEASON'
Good one Hazard- demanding the club signs new good players before he (Hazard) can put pen to paper on a long term deal. I wish he gets his way.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

16 May 2018 12:27:37
Hazard is a good player no doubt, but once again we see players having the power at our club.

Sure we'd miss Hazard but if he really doesn't want to be here we should just cash in on him.

We have too many players not really 100% committed to our team (clearly that's just my opinion) . Courtois and Hazard both included.

16 May 2018 13:15:31
Ummm - not a great endorsement of his present team-mates! I wonder how that will play in the dressing room.

Bobby23, affluence naturally breeds influence. If someone is rich in something- it naturally gives you influence and it's no different in football- hence player power is inevitable- when the player in question is very talented. The real question is, 'ARE THE DEMANDS OF THE PLAYER (EXERCISING THE POWER) REASONABLE OR UNREASONABLE? '

If bringing in more players like Hazard's demanding would help us win more trophies- fine by me. Hazard's loyalty isn't in doubt, I think he's backing it up with ambition by demanding for more better players (I admire his ambition) .

If the club is successful winning trophies by his demands, I bet everyone will be happy.

Good point Miss Darren Wood.

obinna123: You are correct, we start winning regularly again and everyone will forget everything. However, your affluence breeds influence is correct BUT the club is way bigger in both and to have a player that was mentioned when there was Mourinho discontent and also Conte should be dealt with. I know you think very highly of Hazard but his good "on his day" but sadly for a player to be great he has to have more than the "odd great day". Comments like his reflect on all the players around him and I am sure there will be many that would like to see the back of him. If we got £100m for him I would take it. This is the best league for his talents as I do not think he will do well in Spain; look at his International record against some poor teams and it has been very ordinary.

C1955, your point is great and similar to Miss Darren Wood's.

Though I guess I see opportunity cost; something has to be forgone to get something. Big players do what Hazard's doing most times to win more but if the club can't live with it (big players demanding for better players) - then sell him (Hazard) . But I think BIG PLAYER= BETTER FOOTBALL= MORE TROPHIES/ SUCCESS= BIGGER BRAND= MORE MONEY FOR THE CLUB (and everyone's smiling) .

Besides Hazard's character is impeccable as a human being (similar to Messi) . If he's complaining, I think its for a good reason.

I feel if you will take £100m for Eden Hazard in today's market; then maybe you aren't seeing his ability- When a free transfer Pogba cost above £89m; Coutinho (below £10m from InterMilan to Liverpool) and Dembele (just below £15m from Rennes to B. Dortmund) all cost above £100m. Maybe truly a Prophet isn't regarded in his own town.

Besides Hazard demanding for new better players, haven't we all seen this season that we need reinforcements.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2018 19:15:47
obinna123: You are starting to sound like an accountant! I agree we DO need reinforcements, carefully thought out ones NOT position fillers.

Haha. No, I am no accountant. When the transfer window actively opens we will see the real Chelsea accountants (from their comments) .

I think he will end up staying another year, however without signing a new contract. He probably ends up going free to a big club next year. Not ideal, he will be a huge loss.

Given the situation, I hope we sign good players and not because Hazard has said it and so that he stays but mainly because we need it. We have a lot of dead wood in the squad which need clearing out.

Firstly we need a good manager. My vote reaches out to Sarri. I know his mouth has let him down in the past but he is a good tactician and his brand of football will be interesting, a risk of course but it can't be that bad given that they run a good Juventus side close.
