Chelsea have opted not to sign Neymar and are pursuing a cheaper move for Spanish U21 star Adrian. One of Modric or Pastore will likely sign, as will Begovic and Van Der Wiel. {Ed002's Note - Ah, MOTD Fever.}

Ha MOTD? I just like to make these things up and try and make them sound like half believable stories. I have given up reading all the gossip now, I'll believe it when I see it.

Chelsea team 2 or 3 years from now..
Sergio Asenjo
VDW. D.Luiz. Bruma. Bertrand.
McEachran
Remires. Kakuta
Lucas Piazon
Torres. Lukaku

Any thoughts?

Lucas Piazon will only be 20 in 3 years. With Chelsea's track record of starting anyone under the age of 24 on a regular basis, I quite doubt it.

I really wouldn't be surprised if only a couple of our present youth players are even in the squad in 3 years, let alone 4.

Bruma over Alex? lol people really overvalue that kid. {Ed002's Note - Mikel, Kalou have both been regular starters for some years. Terry ws a regular U24 starter.}

Agree10 Disagree0

Mikel, true. Terry is, well John Terry is John Terry, no brainer... those are the exceptions to the rule.

Kalou a regular starter? Not quite. He does on occasion start (when Drogba is injured), but I wouldn't say that he's a "regular starter" or a first option. He is pathetic when he starts, so it isn't often. He isn't called a super-sub (not my opinion necessarily) for nothing.

Regardless, unless Lucas sets the world on fire I can't see hm starting at age 20. {Ed002's Note - So just cancel the purchase - is that what you think? And go back and look at the stats for Kalou - more than 100 starts in his first four years makes him a regular starter under 24. I too have no time for Kalou, but I think your post was rather misleading.}

Also Ramires and Luiz both just recently turned 24 and were regular starters, you should do more research, Van aholt is also better player than bertrand btw

Salomon Kalour is NOT a regular starter simple as.. he has had since he has been at chels 87 starts (57 sub apps) league games, every in europe its 22 starts 23 sub apps, we need to start bringing in my young talent and giving them starts to gain expierence! then maybe we would have a brighter future than the one we have at the moment! i can only name a handful of youth players that MIGHT make the grade (josh, gael, bruma, pat van aanholt) {Ed002's Note - Rubbish.}

Cancel the Piazon transaction? Come on... when the hell did I say that?Isn't that a bit rash? Talk about misleading. If we canceled every transfer of a teenager just because I felt that he wouldn't be in the starting XI at age 20, we'd have no Youth Team. I just believe that it's unrealistic that he would be starting behind the front 2 when he's only 20. My opinion, that's all...

Ramires and David Luiz cost us a bit more than Piazon, and were purchased at approx. 23 years old, so sitting them wasn't really an option (which stupid Ancelotti did towards the end of the season anyway). If Essien and Lamps had been fit early in the season, I doubt that Ramires would have started as often.

Perhaps the age of '24' was overreaching on my part, I will admit that. But that's still a far cry from 20. How many 20 year old players at Chelsea were REGULAR starters - and - actually contributed to the team.

Just saw Kalouless' stats. I can't believe that he started that often (153 out of 253 matches). I must have tried to block it from my memory LOL.

At this stage, who do you think are chelsea's most likely buys and which players are probably not going to join? There has been too much speculation to see anything clearly, what with so many players rumoured in.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

The rumours that have us buying every world class player have been prevalent every season since Roman bought the club. It's rather futile to speculate, as such a low percentage of those attributed to Chelsea ever come to the team. You have to agree that most high profile players end up elsewhere, breaking someones heart. Not worth the headache to be honest...
