Everyone keeps getting upset about the lack of "big name signings" at Chelsea but can't you all see that we are not going to conduct ourselves like Man City anymore. There was a time where we bought all the best players and paid top dollar along with top wages. Barcelona and Real Madrid(excluding Ronaldo) have recently been picking up great players for the prices they want because the players want to play for those teams. They have a reputation and they are stern negotiators. They know that the players want to play for them and they can put out concrete offers and most likely the players will accept that. We did not sign Aguero because we were not going to pay the wages he expected... Sanchez wanted to play for Barca and even Udinese accepted less money than they had hoped for but it was because Sanchez only wanted Barca.

Chelsea are now trying to operate like that. We have a great group of youngsters and we have to establish some kind of back bone. We cannot be played like fools and pay astronomical fees and wages for players anymore. Hopefully AVB will find a couple of bargain buys and we can start winning some titles and then players will want to play for us and other clubs will respect our negotiation styles.

We may have a couple of seasons where we might not win the title but we are trying to build a program similar to MUFC, Barca, and Real. CFC needs your patience and support.

In theory this works but I don't see Roman giving a manager the time to do this; he expects instant results this was ver evident in Ancelotti's departure.

My god we shouldve just payed for aguero

Believable7 Unbelievable2

At around 250k a week or whatever he's on. No way is he worth that. The amount of unrest that causes a team is immense.

I am a devout chelsea fan, but i have been disappointed in our lack of transfer activity during this window but i refuse to slag off the club for it and i am completely behind AVB and the club and i do expect us to make some movemnent soon but tonight i have had my worse fears realised. i waited with baited breath to see aguerro tonight. Man City will win the league by a country mile this year and if he stays fit and plays it will be all down to him. He will win the golden boot as well and dare I say it, Champions League??. Now then, Aguerro has been linked with us for the past couple of seasons and I remember him also saying at one point that he wanted to come and play for chelsea, paper talk maybe. He has gone to them for 38 million, we spent 50 on Torres, that wasnt a problem, he has high wage demands, so what. We should have opened the cheque book for this player. He is not a new entity he has been doing this for the past few seasons in Spain. We should have gone all out. I know the eds have said that we wouldnt match his wage demands. 20 minutes of football tonight says we should have. Did we want to pay him what he wants in case we upset other players, maybe. But who would be moaning? Terry? Lampard? Drogba? Torres? Apart from the last one, with all due respect the first 3 should really be told not to moan. they are not up and coming players, they are coming to the end of their careers with likely replacements already being planned. We have missed out on one of the best players that is obviously built for our league and I cannont understand how and why we do not have him. City have him now and I think we will be regretting it seriously. I only hope that we make some decent signings that will help us but I dont think that any will be as prolific or worth whatever Aguerro wanted. Come on chels, 2nd is best we can look for this season and futire seasons to come

Shame we couldn't find a goal yesterday against stoke. The whole ongoing issue of a lack of creativity stood out again.
Why can’t the Chelsea hierarchy see Malouda and Kalou for what they are; over rated show boaters without the necessary ability.
After January's £80m+ outlay and the confidence shown in AVB, you have to assume Roman will be willing to open his cheque book, so why are we leaving it so late to get out squad sorted in preparation for the start of the season? I am not a fan of the red nosed alcoholic from old trafford, but he got in did his business and started preparation early - take note Chels; why are we adopting Wengers strategy?
We do not need a mass of players, but we are desperate for a central midfielder who can unlock a stubborn defence [say like at Stoke for instance], at least one, if not two, pacey wingers and just when I thought we had sorted out our goalkeeping back-up situation – we send him out on loan to Spain
If we cannot afford, or are unwilling to spend over the odds, why don’t we get some unwanted players who clearly have the ability. Meireles from Liverpool for instance was fantastic last season and yet they don’t want him
My choice would be;
Sneider – an absolute must. We missed out on Robinho and Van Der Vaart because we didn’t act in previous seasons, don’t make the same mistake this time round.
Ronaldinho – yes this guy isn’t 23, but he’s 31 and well worth a season and would cost next to nothing.
I have faith in AVB, but like the rest of us want something to get excited about and to shift some dead wood.

If anyone is watching the city game, it really seems like we let a real world class player slip from our grasp in Aguero. At only 5 mil more and wages not much higher than modric, why was our focus not on him? Any ideas ed that prevented Chelsea persisting with him

Believable4 Unbelievable3

You can hardly call 3 times the wages nearly the same, I wanted him too, and was gutted to see him at city, even before tonight, but we need to realise, we simply can't compete with city, a richer owner, a larger stadium, and an astronomical sponsorship deal, we simply can't afford to compete with them. we just have to accept, if we both want a player, and the players main motivator is money, we won't get them. but, then, do we really need players like that anyway?

I love watching Aguero score on his debut, set up a goal and be the best player on the pitch when we wouldn't pay the money for him. Fuming is an understatement of how i'm feeling atm.

I read some of the text here and see people claiming that real fans should stick with the team no matter what and should have faith. While all this is well and good, I mean you should support your team through thick and thin, I cannot help but get a sense of dejavu. When Arsenal went through their first couple of trophyless seasons, there were discussions goin around close to what we see here. People saying in Arsene we trust, and now look at them. No trophy for last 6 years, their idol of last 4 seasons gone and fans shouting in stadiums, urging the manager to spend. While this comparison is way too skewed(we have a way more ambitious management than arsenal), i am just sayin that supportin your club through trouble is one thing, just havin blind faith another. I kno i am goin to get a lot of flake for saying all this but i want everyone to at least understand one thing here, I love Chelsea and only think about its progress. Because no matter what some people say, WE DO NEED PLAYERS like modric, neymar, hazard etc..not just for now, but for the future as well

Did anyone watch the Real v Barca game? If it wasn't annoying enough that Barcelona were already Head and Shoulders above anyone else, now they've gone and bought Alexis Sanchez for roughly £27million, Andy Carroll cost £35million, Joleon Lescott cost upwards of £20million. And they've bought Fabregas for £29.4million altogether inclusive of add ons if they win La Liga 2 years running and the Champions League once in the next 2 years. HOW, WHAT, WHY do clubs like oursleves, City and United end up paying over the odds for players when Barca get them for them prices? ROBBERY

AND whilst on the subject of Barca, two more things
1 - If they have managed to include a buy back clause benefiting them in the deal for Romeu then It will just back up what i'm saying about them getting better deals than ourselves and it will massively annoy me.
And 2 - If having Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Messi, Villa, Fabregas, Sanchez, and Pedro wasn't enough to get them a goal, now they happen to have Thiago One of the most talented bench warmers in the game, and he will be a bench warmer because as the Eds have stated time and time again they will not sell him, and if they do they will probably get £30million upwards because thats what they do - get the best deals

In short what i'm trying to say is I hate them

Believable3 Unbelievable0

They get the best deals because they're the best team in the world. After they showed interest in Sanchez he made up his mind that he would only go to barca. The selling clubs know this and they can either settle by taking bar as best offer or having an unhappy player. Same situation with cesc. He wasn't going anywhere other than barca.

Pls did anyone watch malouda and kalous performance yesterday? 1 word terrible They never beat one player all game If they were English with names like smith or Clark they wouldn't probably even get into a good championship side It's so obvious so why does it look like Chelsea ain't making efforts to sign no creativity?? Them 2 points dropped yesterday could cost us the league at the end of the day all because we wait till end of transfer window Business should have been done like man utd did and Liverpool and man city did early It was the same s**t as last year We need a good 3 wingers and a play maker because we don't have 1 winger right now There all s**t C'mon Chelsea f***ing do something panic is beginning to settle in But I must say Torres looked a lot sharper but he ain't getting no service at the moment , probably the worst service in the league with kalou and malouda

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Go support a Mancester club then you glory supporting tw*t

For a start, I dont know why us Blues are panicking. We were robbed of 2 pens yesterday, and played some decent football in spells. Bare in mind it was the first game of the season, and certain number 9's were looking better than ever, i dont know what the fuss is about, and after watching the "mighty" united look unconvincing yesterday... I think we'll do it this year. All WBA did was pressure the midfield and play the ball into tchoi(who isnt the best) to hold it up, and it worked. Man Utd had their lucky break with the goal. But with the firepower we have in our strikers, I think we'll go all the way this year. PS Man City arent a threat. Flash in the pan money grabbers.

Right lets get one thing straight. Are Kalou and Malouda good enough to be at chelsea anymore? No. Does this mean that if they stay that i am going to stop supporting Chelsea? HELL NO Chelsea til the end, always have been and always will be But yes we do desparately need a winger to compliment Sturridge, Torres, Didier and Lakaku. Malouda and Kalou should be used sparingly now.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

We have started this season where we finished last. We are in desperate need of someone who can play that killer ball, we look like we could play all day and not score. If we dont sign one or two players it will be a season of disapointment again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dead right, yet another fan saying the same. This is no coincidence either or novelty for some new players, we genuinely need a pair of wingers and a creative mid And I have to say avb is a great manager and all, but he is one stubborn character.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought we were alot better than last season and that was down to a number of major differences.

One - It was quite obvious that AVB and Robby Di'Mateo have got us playing more fluent football, there was more one touch/two touch football all over the pitch. Albeit it broke down on most occasions when reaching Kalou and Malouda, but hopefully we will have Sturridge and a new signing there instead come August 31st. Plus, game by game our football will only get better as AVB stamps his mark.
Two - Jose Bosingwa looked back to his best, clearly when AVB says he likes his players to play with Freedom of Expression he means it because 'The Portuguese Unibrow' did not stop attacking their left back.
Three - We looked to break quick everytime Cech got the ball, or when we won a free-kick in our own half or picked up there loose corners etc.
Four - Fernando looked back to his best, he could win us the league with his goals this season.

Also, i'd take a point away to Stoke, its not a bad result, how many of the other top teams will definately win there?

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen if we dont sign anyone we are looking at 4th at best, we are no better than last season we need flair, without it we are gonna be getting a lot of 0-0s

On the left wing (on descending order):
Hazard or Mata or Di Maria or Nasri or Johnson

On the forward:
Neymar

On attacking mid:
Ganso or Modrich

On the right defense:
VD Weil

the Chelsea Squad will be worth watching..
the competitors will then, forget their hunger and thirst..

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Chelsea are worth watching if your a real fan, I have been going since the mid eighties and will continue to go no matter how we are playing, we have become spoiled over the years and should be thankfull that we are one of europes top clubs and in my opinion will continue to be for many years to come.
