I don't think Zappacosta should start against Arsenal as we've only seen him play against a team significantly weaker than Arsenal. But I would love to see AC start against Arsenal, though!

I can't imagine Conte selecting Christensen ahead of Rudiger or Zappacosta ahead of Moses. What have Rudiger and Moses done wrong to be dropped?! Also, I don't think Hazard will start.

I think we'd sooner see pigs fly than a complete rotation of starting 11 players between the two games.

I completely agree with you Miss Darren Wood. I think that's how Conte will go:

Courtois;
Azpi, Luiz, Rugiger;
Moses, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso;
Willian, Pedro; Morata.

Think that's the best team, unless he decides to put Cahill in instead of Rudiger, but hope he sticks with the German.

I think Cahill will be in. dnt know why though just get the feeling he will.

Team vs Forest:
Caballero;
Christensen Luiz Cahill;

Zappacosta Fabregas Bakayoko Kenedy;

Musonda Hazard; Batshuayi

Something tells me Kyle Scott might play a role in that game.

Yea I think Cahill might get the nod too but think Rudiger should keep his place. I feel they'll be given a run of games each rather than week by week rotation, seems how it works with CBs. Tricky one.

I don't think Rudiger has done anything that warrants being rested/ dropped. I imagine he'll keep his place in the team for now with Cahill being rotated in for midweek/ lesser games. If it does happen I'd imagine we'll see a sort of Terry situation whereby our Captain spends the majority of the season on the bench.

To me a chelsea team is not complete without Lampard and Makelele. And Carvalho over Gallas.

14 Sep 2017 14:57:01
Thx guys both teams are strong and would be able to take on any team. Must say Lampard must be there but its not easy between Makelele and Kante.

14 Sep 2017 15:13:39
Lumpy! I knew I'd missed someone! Yes, Lampard has to be in probably with Pat Nevin dropping to the subs bench.

14 Sep 2017 15:16:05
I loved Makelele but I think Kante offers more all over the pitch whereas Makelele concentrated on patrolling the space just in front of the centre-backs.

Jimmy Greaves, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and John Terry would always be in my best ever Chelsea Eleven. After that I would find myself struggling to be definitive.

TomB it makes sense. Matt you also have a strong midfield and 3 upfront.

Sorry forgot Ken Shelitto in my must have in the team players.
Just in case some of our young supporters have never heard of him, he was a top full back that, in my opinion, would now be a national hero. I've always been convinced that if he hadn't picked up a very bad knee injury he would have played in our World Cup winning team.
It's only old gits like me who remember him.

Ummm, not sure Lampard was the greatest Chelsea player ever - there's a lot of competition.

The Cat was a goalkeeper of his time. Good shot stopper (except in World Cup) and fantastic with crosses but he couldn't kick for toffee.

A tester for TomB. I was a huge Bonetti fan but always felt Reg Matthews was better all round but played in a poor team. I agree with Shellito and would put Eddie McReadie alongside, the master of the sliding tackle along with Jim Langley of Fulham; overall Ashley Cole would get my final vote at left back however. Like you I could not be definitive enough to pick a best eleven but I would have a young (sober) Peter Osgood on the bench. Never as free flowing after Emlyn Hughes broke his leg.

C1955, goalkeepers are always hard to judge when they play in a poor side but The Cat played in some awful sides. but was always a class act. So, in my opinion The Cat was better than Mathews!
As far as goalkeepers go, at the moment I would pick big Pete as our best ever but I do think Courtois will prove to be our best and eventually the best in the World.
Osgood (The King) was class with an element of evil. Watching him kick lumps out of Jackie Charlton and Mike England was a total joy. If Ramsey had played The King instead of Astle in the 1970 World Cup we would have won back to back World Cups!
The Hardest forward I've ever seen was the late Ian Hutchinson but he was so unlucky with injuries.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 15:35:02
TomB: Hutchinson - Unlucky with injuries and liked a drink too much (what a throw in) as did so many of that team which should have won the First Division at least once during that era. It is difficult to compare across generations and we are tempered by a 'favourite' but I preferred Matthews because he made few errors whereas Bonetti is tainted with a few, but it is individual perception. Cech was a great shot stopper BUT his Achilles Heel was failure to catch crosses, choosing to punch something Matthews and Bonetti did not do. On the other hand Courtois is exceptionally good at catching high balls into the area but I don't think he is such a good shot stopper as Cech. Ten people from our generation would pick ten different teams!

I agree C1955 it's hard to pick players across generations but I would be astonished if anyone left out JT, Lamps or Ashley Cole out of an all time best team.
We have been fortunate and blessed to have had so many fantastic players in our team in recent years and for that we have to thank Roman!

Is swap ballack for essien in mine.

15 Sep 2017 18:52:50
Ballack was, in my opinion, never given the credit he deserved. Top player with a strong personality and winning attitude.
I can see a bit of Ballack in Bakayoko!

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2017 21:58:31
Ballack was the ultimate captain ( without being captain ) winners mentality, lead by example, scored created defended, controlled games. Never got the credit, loved him.
