Problem with bakyoko, Chelsea awaiting documents that they requested from Monaco, apparently Monaco pulled the deal, bakyoko has deleted all posts he put up st cobham and regarding Chelsea. Deal may be off. Eds?

Eds just making the point that people are too willing to believe everything they see on Twitter despite the fact the there are always many sources that contradict each other as they're based on little more than gossip.
Personally I think the bakayoko deal is done, wouldn't worry about it.

Chelsea offered Chalobah a very good contract in order to keep him. He, for playing reasons, turned it down. It left little else other than to sell him. He may prove to be a future star? He may not as well? Only time will tell. The club do have both a buy back clause AND sell on clause as well so very much a win win situation all round. The player gets to play regular football AND if he turns out a star we either buy him back or profit financially. Conte played him in 15 games last season, albeit only minutes in some of those games but games anyway. Would we have won the league if he played in more? We will never know BUT the manager sees all the players every day and picks the side to win. Conte got it right. Our academy is the one of the best in world football and therefore in the spotlight with chelsea haters and jounalists, pundits alike. If 1 in 100 makes it to the first team as a regular starter that is huge success. Musunda has impressed Conte and will get a chance this season. I think he has a chance to make the breakthrough. Sterling and Mount have been mentioned on here and I also think over the next year or so they might make it. Christenson is a success and I hope he gets the chance but I tell you all, the next academy star to make the breakthrough, be a huge success for Chelsea and England will be Tammy Abraham. The boy has it all and having just signed a long term contract plus the chance to play for Paul Clement at Swansea we have a player who will ready in the next season or two and he is just 18 years old.

I am as gutted and disappointed about losing our youth players but the bottom line is they are squad players at best with potential .
If we replace them with proven players and hopefully 1st team starters the strength of squad would improve with virtually no risk when substitutes or squad rotation . the only starter we are losing is Costa and he doesn't want to be at the bridge.
Hopefully we will see replacements soon .

Something to do with his son not being well or something, wanted to stay in Italy and juve wanted to sell. Read a good Italian source say all the Chelsea offers were lies to attract interest.

I think it is very clear none of us are happy with the selling of these youth players but there is so many denominating factors if we can't guarantee them playing time it is right at around the age of 20-22 they move on or it will only stump there careers. Yes its sad to see the players we've grown attached to leave for new horizons but it is what is best for them and it can't be resented you can really blame the club. there good but there not yet good enough for first 11 and that being what it is will go to find it elsewhere. The window is still young and the squad can only be of a certain size regardless im sure that others will be brought in it would appear at least 1 of each of a CB, CM, ST and let's be honest with the price of players these days to get Rudiger and seemingly Bayako for the prices being touted is good bussiness its also lookin like Hazard will give us one more year.


if youd be kind enough ED could you please tell us who is the clubs preffered ST target as it stands and now with chabolah gone and matic about to possible go could chelsea look again to verrati or has that ship sailed?

Regarding central midfielders, I've been informed there is a push to get Pasalic to sign a new deal. Conte also wants to assess MvG in pre-season, and is very impressed by Mason Mount- he might stay with the club and be in squad rather than loaned.

It's widely assumed he will be loaned out, Danny. But the move hasn't actually materialised yet as Mount is starring at the U19 Championships currently.
It would greatly surprise me if Mount stayed with the 1st team, though there's no question that he's ridiculously good.

Colkett is going/ has gone to Vitesse. I know it won't happen however I have a sneaky feeling that Sterling could be given an opportunity *if* we don't get another player at RWB. For me, Mount and Sterling are the standout talents from last seasons youth/ development teams.

we have had loads over the years and none of them wear the blue shirt anymore. such a shame, because no doubt we have a superb academy. no one can say we ruin the youngster's careers because we make them the player they are, we just don't give a chance in our first team due to high demands. but that is one of the negatives of being a top club i suppose.
