Is it true that the owner of Shaktar has no interest in doing business with Abramovich therefore making it impossible to sign Willian? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed was is involved in him getting an extra year. would it be so difficult for such an exceptional player, bearing in mind man utd would take him so he has some value

If anyone gets chance, use the search engine to search 'Luca Hardy'. Then please tell his dad to stop posting under different names to try and get his sons name branded around. If the lad is good enough he will make it regardless of your embarrassing posts. Please stop for his sake, its pathetic.

how would people feel about getting rid of Torres and signing up Wallcot? Think he would be awesome down the centre for us, with the attacking midfielders we have.

Dan73

Believable6 Unbelievable9

Walcott is not a centre forward!

Agree5 Disagree5

Well he doesnt do a bad job when played in the centre for Aresnal. considering his not a CF

Dan73

Whoever put he's not a centre forward doesn't have a clue about football.

I think that Rafa is doing a good job - we need to realise that the negative atmosphere around Stamford Bridge caused by the fans is not helping the team. We have been excellent away from home, better than I can remember for a long time. People who say that they want Roman out have got short memories.

If you want us to be another Villa or Sunderland just carry on the way you are.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

I have to partially agree with you there. I can only make it to the european games and cup games, but i definitely see that the fans attitudes can have a negative effect on the team. I was in the matthew harding end for the swansea game where usually there is a great atmosphere, but all through the game you hear "fans" shouting F Off Torres, or insults to rafa. The fans boo and get negative as soon as things go badly, but as soon as we score the team and manager are great again. What sums this up is that ivanovic made 2 mistakes and didn't get booed, ramires had a shocker and he didn't get booed.

Being at the swansea game was partly embarassing with the booing Torres coming off and chanting Di Matteos name after they scored the 2nd goal.

I think that the Rafa is doing an adequate job but the fickleness of our fans is not helping!

We need to get behind our team, accept this is a transitional year and not get on individuals backs when things aren't going well.. Otherwise i can see our top players not wanting to stay

Milkybar Dave

Agree7 Disagree2

Adequate? If you're just counting the results but the team is playing as balanced as I've seen in a couple years and without having to park the bus we seem to be organized at the back and just generally look like we come into a match with a plan. Not sure how much of that is due to Rafa personally but it wasn't happening before.

Agree3 Disagree0

Yeah dave i was in mathew harding as well and whilst disappointed in the team i was annoyed with the di matteo chants and the booing. to be fair though when your losing and your striker is offering nothing it is quite aggravating knowing there's a better player on the bench

Agree1 Disagree0

I feel adequate is correct. 3rd in the league, but playing well... but lost club world cup and a few games we should have won.

I wouldn't say he is doing brilliantly or terribly. If you think he is doing a good job then nobody would be asking for a replacement manager on here every other day.

He is tactically a better manager than rdm in my opinion, but di matteo seemed to inspire players better and crucially he cared about the club.

Milkybar Dave

Agree2 Disagree0

That's not fair Dave your not a mind reader and as far as inspiring the proof is in the fact of better overall play.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's early days but, his win percentage is 60% after 15 games, which is around the same as Robbie and Carlo managed during their time in charge. You would have to be pretty stubborn to not admit the team is playing better under him, whether or not it is his tactical influence or his ability to inspire players (from all reports he gets on well with the squad).

Barcelona team has just finished roughly half of the season under Tito Villanova. With every game won and one draw. I would take that into consideration before throwing everything and the kitchen sink Guardiola's way.

Spot on

OsgoodIsKing

Agree6 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more, even though i still hate his fat ass but i'd rather rafa than pep. better yet, bring back the special one

aL

Agree8 Disagree3

So none of the credit goes to Pep for this?

IB.

Agree3 Disagree1

I think pep had his contributions but i believe that all aspects of barcelona as a club helped him a lot, starting from their youth coaches, scouts, structure of their academy and all the way up to their management. Maybe it's just me but i don't think that pep would make it without the support of all the people and systems he had at barcelona. Rafa on the other hand has proven premier league experienced, he's also showed us that we can play entertaining football although sometimes the results don't come our way but again we're in transition. If we would get pep in the summer then we'll be starting all over again. On the other hand if we had mourinho back then at least he'd have some clear picture on the club and the way we work so we won't be starting from scrap. The bottom line is I'm craving for some stability in our club if rafa can achieve a champions league place and maybe a cup as a bonus come end of season then I will support him in taking the role for next season

aL

Agree4 Disagree0

He didn't say that. But its widely known that under Villanova Barca seem to be a better, solid and more tactically sound team. So i think JG's right when he's saying take that into consideration before offering the world to bring Pep in. Personally i don't rate him as much as the media do. No Plan B.

OsgoodIsKing

Agree4 Disagree0

Completely agree that Barca have a wonderful structure. Pep took control of a squad which was somewhat in disarray though, removed the troublemakers and turned the the team around. Obviously any manager needs supporting staff, that's no different wherever you go.

I also agree that Benitez is taking us in the right direction, and if he continues to do so would prefer he stays in charge next season.

IB.

Agree1 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more, would rather have carlo or jose' back. Like you say, no plan B

Dan73

Agree2 Disagree0

Pep is a good coach, no doubt, but his tenure at Barca coincided with some of the best footballing talent we have ever seen playing on the same team.

Chelsea are probably the one team over the years, with and without Pep in charge, that have had the better of Barca more often than not.

Pep definitely has something about him but it will not be proven until he takes over at a new club.

Watch this space...

Agree1 Disagree0

Not convinced about Pep, as soon as a decent manager turned up he turned tail and fled. Had quality throughout when he took over. Not convinced he is right for Chelsea, and can't see much beyond Rafa unless Jose comes back but can't see that happening.

Agree1 Disagree0

I understand we want marquee, trendy signings and managers as well. Such is our game today. But you know - i hardly give a crap who's the guy in a dugout if we are doing good.

Right now we are neither good. nor bad. Let's carry on and hope we finish in top 4. More importantly - i hope our players improve and gel together into a cohesive unit.

We have bought a lot of talent over the years and there is a long cue of potential stars ready to get onto the scene.

Kevin de Bruyne
Thibault Courtois
Romelu Lukaku
Oriol Romeu
Nathaniel Chalobah
Nathan Ake
Josh McEachran
Lucas Piazon

These young lads will have to get involved into the first team over the next few years.

We need someone the board trusts to get the best out of these kids. Therefor we'd be able to bring in our talent through the ranks and buying an occasional world beater when in need.

This may be the reason why i could possibly understand the actions of the board over contract extensions of Drogba, Lamps, Cole, possibly Terry and eventually Cech.

This will eventually happen to Ferreira and Hilario, Malouda, Benayoun (as the contract expires in June), Torres will be sold or loaned out until his contract expires over the years.

With the lineup like this and a signing here and/or there if needed we look good on paper (screen):

GK: Cech, Courtois, Turnbull

LB: Bertrand, van Aanholt, Cole (if he extends for a year) or a signing like Baines. Or just the first two

RB: Azpiliqueta, Wallace, Kalas. (Brana as occasional cover)

CD: Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry. (Luiz on occasions) and a possible signing or Kalas.

Midfield: Mikel, Ramires, Romeu, Chalobah, Luiz, Josh McEachran. An eventual signing.

Attackers: Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Moses, De Bruyne, Piazon, Marin (if he's here).

Strikers: Ba, Lukaku. a third striker.

This is a very talented group of players and it looks to me, like we have assembled a very good unit. Remember it took Barca selling Ronaldinho to give space to Messi. This wasn't a popular decision, but it had to be made.

All we are left with is finding a new manager to get this unit to gel. (Well, a Messi in the ranks, would help, too)
