2-1 win, difficult away game with a hostile crowd. A lot of pressure given the poor result vs Man City earlier this week. Happy for the lads.

Maybe should have been 2-0 but we do have a few issues in within the squad that will take time to iron out. We seem to be making individual mistakes far too often. Barkley got caught in possession near the death which was terrible, lucky for him it didn't lead to a goal.

Kovacic looked better in JORGINHO role . better passer plus he can drive and a lot sharper.

Kovacic looked good and in my opinion Jorginho needs a rest. The players generally looked tired. Rotation will cost us dear.

We need a big summer of investment at Chelsea. A lot of aging playings who have unfortunately lost pace and are not suited to the high press.

Thanks for the positive post Shak! I was trying to take some positives from this game and was struggling slightly!

A few positives:

Christensen - Very solid as usual, he should play more.
Willian - Better, playing more like Sarri is asking him to play. Can still offer more.
Emerson - Solid display again.
Barkley - Probably his best performance - We need more of that.
Kova - Solid display - Looked comfortable in the regista role.
Kepa - Not a lot to do, a positive for our defence I guess.
Giroud - Held the ball well, linked up a few times with the forwards, took his goal nicely.

However, a few negatives or something that I've observed lately. I like Pedro's enthusiasm, his work rate is fantastic, but I feel he's not offering much in attack lately. Obviously he set up Barkley's goal but he's been quite frustrating at times.

Luiz, seems to point the finger when he makes mistakes. Not sure if that's really the case but just from what I see each game.

Azpi - He's improved a lot in this system, but it's obvious he is struggling with the ball at his feet. In the defensive phase he is immense, just feel we need to strengthen that position in future.

Jorginho - Thought he was poor by his standards. He will improve I'm sure.

Subs - Not really sure what to think - Don't agree with them, but I'm sure Sarri had his reasons for them.

Onwards and upwards. Hopefully we can take the confidence of the win tonight into the next game!

The atmosphere was incredible, fair play to the Malmo supporters. You don't get better atmospheres than that anywhere in England. As for the result it was expected for me, tons of deadwood in that line up that should be moved on in the Summer. Biggest problems are in the defence, no matter who we play we'll struggle if the opposition go at us. Out of all the areas in the team that's were it needs investing the most.

No worries Blue Soldier. It was a tough away game and we scored 2 away goals. Like LondonBlues stated the atmosphere was incredible. The away fans were jeering and putting prsesure on our players and the ref until the 90th minute. But I am happy for the win and it should ease the pressure after the last two away performances which have not been so good.

Unfortunately, given our recent successes winning so much we have attracted a new breed of fans who are very impatient and they are criticising team / manager at every game and at every platform and this adds unnecessary pressure which the players can feel which isn't healthy. So its a good win for the players who have to combat the above.

Yes we have to move some players on, I wouldn't call them deadwood as they have achieved alot. I wouldn't call Drogba, Lampard etc deadwood even though they tailed off as they aged. But point agreed we need new players for sure.

It was not a tough away game. They were an average team and we played average, scoring two and then finding a way to let them score. Players earning their money playing in the pressure cooker games of the EPL are not going to be bothered by any crowd such as that and they certainly do not care what the media say. We are not playing well and there the malaise we saw under Conte developing.

Haha because I wasnā€™t happy with the starting lineup not sure how Iā€™m thst was me wanting them to lose, Iā€™ve been quiet supportive of Sarri, oh well onto the next game, like you say itā€™s better but not at the level yet, funny weā€™re always improving v hiddlesfiedl malmo etc just seems to be against good opposition we donā€™t look very good, funny that,

I get the unhappiness with the starting line up, but that line up should have been able to win that game with ease. I don't think we played badly but intensity could have been upped.

From a management point of view, I understand the selection. As I said, it's a game we should have won easy, giving us scope to play Ampadu, CHO, Zappa etc in the second leg. The players that won't play against United on Monday and will allow us rest the majority of the best 11 going into the cup final.

I find people who lose the head at a starting line up, sometimes fail to take into consideration the next couple of games. Especially in our case, when the next 4 include United, City and Spurs. Player management in a 10 day period is extremely important.

15 Feb 2019 13:46:18
Dihanio well explained mate. Baffles me too that there were a lot of negatives with the selection. On paper the team we put out had more than enough to win. 2-1 win, two away goals which means Malmo have to beat us 2-0 at the bridge to progress which is very unlikely.

If we played a strong squad yesterday and played a weak sqaud vs Man Utd or the same strong squad than Sarri would be toasted if we lost to Utd.

Atleast now we can play a strong squad and roate a few for the return leg against Malmo.

Every Striker and his dog has been linked with a Chelsea transfer at some point in their career, however, one name i have never heard linked with us is Wissam Ben Yedder which I find surprising for one so prolific.

Anyone fancy a punt?

Sarri is either taking Malmo very lightly or has a death wish. Why not play his strongest team because they need to be working on some type of unity and worthwhile game plan.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Feb 2019 19:45:05
I'll support the team but honestly seeing that line up frustrated me. It's our worst possible attacking line up and the midfield hasn't looked great recently either. Hopefully that attack means CHO will start against United, if not he should leave for his own good. Not being able to start against Malmo ahead of two wingers who haven't performed all season bar a few games is poor. Debate whether you think he's good enough or not all you want but in no way should he not be getting more game time considering other players poor form. Same goes with Ampadu as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Feb 2019 19:45:09
We do have some tough fixtures ahead so I can see why he has gone for a slightly "weakened" team. Hope Christensen has a good game again, same for the middle 3. One of them needs to start adding goals/ assists to help out the front 3.

14 Feb 2019 20:00:54
what a disgrace cho on the bench again no wonder the boy wants to **** off SARRI out.

It's obvious to see Sarri will never learn. can't even start Odoi or find a place on the bench for Ampadu after the debacle in Manchester.

THERe were Jorginho discussions a few months ago in which we agreed to cut the Jorginho debate. I know it hasnā€™t been long and I canā€™t remember exactly who were on the ā€˜Jorginho is a good playerā€™ side but couple months later I just wanted to know do people still think that or are they starting to think heā€™s poor? Iā€™ve given it a few months and my opinion hasnā€™t changed. Maybe itā€™s the players around him but to me heā€™s another Mikel, just he canā€™t defend.

Still support him obviously and hope he turns it around but he doesnā€™t look a good player still imo.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - heā€™s sub-standard standard...you see what I did there

14 Feb 2019 03:18:39
I donā€™t like him either. Iā€™d prefer a 4-2-3-1 for extra protection and play Ampadu there alongside Kante.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Feb 2019 07:48:19
Mikel was a better all round player than Jorghino who I think is far too fragile for the EPL and like a later Fabregas, needs too much time and space to play and he is clearly a blind spot as far as Sarri is concerned. Play Kante much more in a position he does not like and we run the risk of losing him.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Feb 2019 09:08:57
Iā€™m not myself morning totally against Kante further forward, but I think Kovacic must be played in the Regista. Shout out to Eli for suggesting that a long long time ago.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Feb 2019 09:16:03
i have given up on him he's bang average pur whole midfield is average right now we need to let kante sit in the dm role and put 2 good midfielders in front of him none of ehich we have now are good enough.
