I've just come home from a Chelsea XI game vs my local club Dundalk FC and they played a very young squad , young Todd Kane played he looks like a good rb and has huge potential !
Nathan Ake he seems good like what I saw , also image of Luiz
Loftus-Cheek - seems a very confident cm with a lot potential
Billy Clifford - great player speed skills etc and very versatile
Last not least George Saville - brilliant enough said ! Won every tackle in mid and man of the match
People may see this as a pointless post but I was wondering any of the youth players ready to brake into the 1st team this year ?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Saville is a midfield general!

----------------Cech----------------

-------Iva------Terry------Luiz----

Rami----Essien-----Lamps----Cole

--------Hazard-------Mata---------

---------------Torres--------------

What about this for an interesting formation.....? Similar to the one City utilised against us. Oscar could be integrated in the place of Lampard or one of the attacking mids

Believable10 Unbelievable4

I basically said about this when we attack then when defending ashley falls back into defence.

Agree0 Disagree2

Think that'd be brilliant, suit us as rami and cole would cover just as much as they go forward, think Liverpool used this formation against us last year and worked well, gd formation if got players. Can't wait to see Oscar play for us

Agree3 Disagree1

Same formation that Napoli played against us with and their front three were amazing, but with Hazard, Mata and Torres as a front three I can't even imagine how insane they would be!

Agree3 Disagree0

Cahill ahead of Ivan I'd say. But yes very good line-up, with meireles and oscar as other deep midfield options.

His contract with Chelsea was due to expire in January 2008, and having made no move to extend it, Chelsea sold him to Arsenal on 31 August 2007, before he could leave on a free transfer.[5]

[edit] Arsenal

On 31 August 2007, transfer deadline day, Diarra signed for Arsenal for an undisclosed fee

the above paragraphs are for the person who made him self look silly by claiming i was wrong saying diarra went from chelsea to arsenal

We should not have send Debruyne on loan.Josh and him should have been slowly brought into the team this season. Both have got great skills and looking at the players competing for the two central midfielder positions ,we might need them this season. Those boys can pass and win balls thousand times better than Mikel plus by playing alongside Lampard /Essien(one of whom could have played in Mikel's position) they would have learnt a lot .I hope Josh stays and gets regular games.
roan

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Im with you roan. josh can pass the ball better than anyother centre mid we have. not only that he moves into space and always looking to collect the ball. de bruyne even though played on the wings alot is a really good box 2 box midfielder scores quite a few aswell. they will get ther chance season after this one. especially that pep will take charge. If hulk pulls his finger out and hands in transfer request then we could sign him but if not then Porto will not budge on price and we will miss out, {Ed002's Note - Why do you think him handing in a transfer request make much of a difference?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm guessing it wouldn't then? Just thought it would show Porto he really wants to leave and compromise on asking price. Thanks for putting me in my place lol we given up negotiating as prices to far apart

Young exciting team for fast flowing football presuming we sign Azpi and Moses in 13/14 season:
Courtise
Azpi--Cahill--Luiz--Bertrand
Ramires--Romeu
Mata---Oscar----Hazard
Torres
Rest of Squad: Cech, Turnbull, Ivan, Marin, Moses, De Bruyne, Paizon, Josh, Lukaku, Sturridge, Chabloah, Kane, Hutch

We must play Romeu as he is the only DM in the squad who has the potential to be a great break up play and get the ball moving quickly DM player. He will make mistakes but I think Ramires has enough energy to cover him. There is no point loaning him out as he needs to build a strong relationship with the attacking mid's and understand their movement.
This season Lampard & Essian (don't rate Mikel) will play loads to help bring young DM's through and they will not be able to play week in week out. Marin & Moses will come on as regular AM subs and also start quite a few games to rest the others. Sturridge will also get loads of chances to prove himself as a sub for Torres and regular starts sharing the work load. Paizon will get first team experience when games are won and in less important games.

Another world class striker and a brick of a DM would be great but I am happy with what we have.

I'm getting a bit sick of people putting there starting 11's on here and always having Cesar Azpilcueta at RB! Why is everyone so desperate to sign him, he is nowhere near the required level to start in our first team! I've watched him, he really ain't that good! Ivanovic should be starting ahead of him every game! People like the sound of new signings and put them straight into the team. Ivanovic is THE best right back in the Premiership (with Kyle Walker), the little spaniard isn't going to get a game!

Chelsea Nick

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Ivanovic, the best right back in the EPL.
Haha that was a good one.
He certainly is not a bad backup though.

Agree2 Disagree9

Ivan doesn't want to be RB. He prefers CB but I guess is happy to play at RB as cover. Azpilicueta is Chelsea's preferred choice to get in at RB and appears to be available so trust the club. If you are going to spend 10 mil on a young RB it would be a bit pointless if you didn't play him, remember he is replacing Bozingwa and he did play quite a few games.

CFC pro's

Agree2 Disagree1

Micah richards, kyle walker, danny simpson had a cracker of a season

curt

Agree3 Disagree4

Ivanovic is a great rb and it is not a joke.As a rb he is defensively unmatched in the EPL.Walker and Richards may be better in attack but they are no where near as good as Ivanovic defensively. I cannot think anybody except Alves ,who is as good as or better than Ivanovic. To the above post, you must think Rafael is the best rb in the league.......ha
roan

Agree5 Disagree1

Having watched the final of the Olympics football i can safely say Rafael isnt very good.
My point being Ivanovic is a CB so saying he is the best RB is just r*******.
I will however say he is the best CB at covering RB in the EPL

Agree2 Disagree2

Bescause hes the only centre back covering right back

curt

Agree2 Disagree3

Just cause he started out as a CB and it's his preferred position doesn't mean he ain't a better player at RB. Some people need to look at the box .....

Agree3 Disagree1

Noone said he wasnt good right back just not the best as is being claimed

curt

Agree0 Disagree2

He's certainly in the top 3 RBs in the prem.

Agree3 Disagree0

Nah

richards, walker and simpson all better

Agree0 Disagree4

Hes a solid right back but not great attacking one is what ur all looking to say. BLUEBOY1

Agree1 Disagree0

Simpson better than Ivanovic!! Wow

Agree3 Disagree0

If simpson is so good newcastle would offer him a better contract

Agree3 Disagree0

Some of the names being quoted as better than Ivanovic are ridiculous! I did say Walker is better, however you're all saying Richards, well last time I checked Zabaleta was first choice RB for City! And Simpson.........behave!

Chelsea Nick

Agree2 Disagree0

First choice or not fact is richards is better than ivanovic

defensively and attacking richards is better and he can play centre back something ivanovic struggles with considering its his preferred position

curt

Agree1 Disagree2

Comparing Richards and Ivanovic is a joke. Ivanovic is slower but much better crosser of the ball (which he's actually quite good at but no one seems to notice) better in the air, better timer of tackles and less prone to losses of concentration and stupid mistakes. Often Richards relies on his athleticism to make up for his tactical shortcomings. Ivan is a much better CB than Richards, and a better RB too.

Agree2 Disagree0

Can't agree more about Iva being a good crosser. People have this image in their mind that the stereotypical attacking RB. Ie. Boswingwa, Sagna etc....have an amazing ball in, but infact its awful.

Agree1 Disagree4

Plus he's in his 30's now, we don't need him in the slightest. If we give Josh the time, He'll be better than Alonso ever was, especially better than he is now he's aged.

Roweycfc

Agree1 Disagree2

Seriously, are you joking? McEachran better than Alonso? Alonso is one of the best central midfielders in the world, and improving season by season, getting better with age and experience, like pirlo and xavi have, yet you think Mceachran will be better than him. I don't know wy everyone rates him so highly, most of you have never seen him play. He couldn't even get into Swansea's side, and all they do is pass the ball 10 yards.

After scrolling about and looking at ppls line ups it is a bit of a concern on how many ppl are putting Oscar in as 1 of the 2 holding midfielders! WHY!! Have u not seen the size of the kid and ur asking him to win balls back showing strength that he clearly lacks to play that roll! Talk about kill this kids talent! He would get killed in that roll, he is a classic no10, a player that u ask to rome free around the park looking for the ball not asking him to smash players like yaya toure.

KevinCFC

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Oscar is pefect no 10.....
and i guess he would do that role better than mata n hazard.....
After watching all his olympic games we have seen....
he has got good vision.....
well aware of players surroundings.....
one of most unselfish player....
as he said earlier enjoys more creating more goal scoring chances for striker....
he keeps his game simple and basics rite...
he is more about a team player....
he keeps moving even fall back to deep midfield to get the ball at his feet...
i guess once oscar settles in team he is d player who will be most usefull player to torres ahead of mata n hazard....
lot of guys comparing him with kaka.......
but he is not gonna be kaka he is more like xavi/iniesta type.....
overall a big creative midfielder for our future.....
just a couple of dayz before football legend PELE said he thinks this boy OSCAR will take chelsea back to top of epl!!

samrat

Agree4 Disagree1

I think people want him the play a similar role to say Modric, a deep lying play maker, so he wouldnt be flying into tackles he would be distributing the ball quickly, with a great range of passes.

Agree0 Disagree1

With Oscar am not afraid bout his size cos he is a player that is not based on strength. He will come lookin for the ball and then pass, ur never see him run at players he will pass pass pass looking for holes in opposition defense to slip in balls for torres, hazard and Mata! Hazard and Mata will be the players who run at ppl with Oscar supplying them balls and then creeping in the box to support torres! Our front 4 is mouth watering but its the 2 holding roles that's gonna cost us games! Need energetic ball winners who can win balls back and pass to the likes of Oscar, hazard and Mata

99.9% of fans are looking for a new central midfield player to come into the club before the current transfer window slams shut. This isn't a surprise when the realism of our pre-season comes to light! 100%, not 99.9%, of fans are pretty clear on their opinion of Obi Mikel - and it wouldn't be pleasurable reading for him! In my opinion this will be Lampards last season and, although he will begin the season starting 90% of games, his playing time will diminish as the season goes on. Miereles will move on during the summer, hopefully as part of the move for Cavani; either way it wouldn't be a big loss. Essien is a shadow of his former player and Romeu isn't ready to start on a regular basis - certainly not against top opposition. McEachran is undoubtedly going to be a top player but really needs a season on loan at a club where he is going to start on a regular basis, preferably a premiership club. That really only leaves Ramires (who should play centrally - the management must see that) but he will need a physical presence in the midfield next to him, someone like Check Tiote would be fine with me.

Problem with all of the above is the fact that Di Matteo likes Obi Mikel and is obviously worried about upsetting Lampard. They'll continue to play until at least the January transfer window…that's unfortunately the time when the club will address our central midfield problems…at the earliest!

Surewould

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Couldnt agree more, everyone is saying buy Sahin, Mvilla, Diarra, Etc.... its alright all of us fans wanting some new talent there, but until RDM and others realise it, we shall all be disappointed..

we our in desperate need of 2 defensive midfielders! players we have at the club are not good enuf!

mikel-just ant gonna bother saying anything about this bloke we all know but a bit worrying rdm doesnt!

romue-not quick enuf and will get over run in games needs to go on loan to see wot this lad can do we cant just chuck him in.

essien-time to move on, gutted that he been hit with knee problems.

lampard-not getting any younger and not mobile enuf for the position that rdm is getting him to play but id still have him playing more forward! will no doubt be our top scorer if we played him in attacking midfield.

kevinCFC

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I believe we need just one new Mid, sell RM and Essien and bring in someone who is mobile and physical, M'vila, Fernando someone like that.

Agree0 Disagree1

RM will be part of the Cavani deal I reckon. Someone like fellani who is big and strong and will add something at set pieces with his aerial threat and also be handy when defending set plays! Feel he is a must with all the little flair players we now have! Part of me thinks thats how mikel gets in cos he adds a bit of height to the team

KevinCFC

Agree1 Disagree0

Need a defensive mid thats reliable to play alongside lampard

cant believe the majority of you sitting here slagging lampard off look back through the seasons and see what hes done for us

also he was top goalscorer last year for us and before someone says oh but half of them were penalties think logically is that how bad we were last year that alo of our goals come from penalties

I think Cavani would be a bad move for the club. Torres is just starting to find his feet and the last thing he needs is another super star striker breathing down his neck. Also Cavani seems a really expensive option. Would very much prefer a Shurller, Pato, Lewondoski or a Rossi.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Finding his feet? Thats where he expects the ball to be played all the time because he is/has been too idol. Cavani is a player that never stops moving, if you have ever watched him play for Napoli you will see he puts in a good shift every match for them, always at both ends of the field. He loves to pla off the shoulder of the last defender to break offside traps and he has the pace and power to leave any Prem defender for dead. Thats why he's worth £35mil, unlike Hulk rated at £40mil, has a bad attitude and is very over-rated. If Meireles wants to go to Napoli, we could have Cavani for £27mil regarding Meireles is rated at £8mil which is good for both clubs. We really need a lethal striker, they need a replacement for Levazzi and will have over £50mil to look for a new striker and other additions to their squad.

Agree1 Disagree1

Torres will be fine with Cavani, plus Cavani can play on the right as he did in the World Cup.If we are to win the league we need options.Torres will fire this season,no matter who comes.Although I think rb and center holding midfield are the two most important positions where e need to sign someone asap.
roan

ExactlY he plays of the same defender exactly like Torres. And if Torres don't get the chances to score what makes u think cavani will.

Hey guys there is a few points that I'd like to bring up.

Firstly I don't understand how so many fans have got into their head that Rami is an absolutely incredible CM?? His best games for us last season were when he was on the wings. Napoli away he was playing CM and had a disastrous night, hence the 3-1 scoreline and immediate sacking of avb; in the home leg he provides the assist from the wing for Drogbas header. His game revolves around being able to stretch his legs and run; he won't be able to do that locked in a 'pivot' role, hence why Lampard  has been moved there because he no longer has the legs to run from box to box. He also ain't great technically plus his passing ain't the best, so I can see teams pressurising him into losing possession quite easily like City did to Mikel over the week end, therefore there is less risk factor playing him on the Wing.

Secondly, I feel that buying another winger/attacking midfielder (Moses) should be the least of our priorities right now.Anyone else noticed every player we have bought this summer play in the attacking trio?!?! First priority ATM should be a RB, someone who could be relied upon to step in. Unfortunately after watching Azpilicueta quite a bit I feel he could be another Boswinga in the making, having said that he is still young and can develop, but I would just prefer someone who is solid and consistent and therefore could be relied upon to step in. I also feel another out and out striker should be prioritised ahead of Moses.

Thirdly, and this might seem like a strange one, but the pitch at Stamford bridge is relatively small compared to a lot of other clubs and I know this can't be helped however I can't help but think will hinder the new style of football we are trying to play. Players like hazard and mata will have a limited amount of space plus Torres will have very little space to run in behind defences.

Sorry for all the doom and gloom but apart from that I'm extremely excited about the new season!

Go watch last season review u mug. How many time he wins the ball in midfield and broke to build us play. And he scored a fair few goals from central. Obviously a fan who only watched the semi and the final last season.

I watched every game last season. Calm down cause its just my opinion.

I suggest watchin the season review. i watched couple days ago he was brilliant for us centrally. he was only good on the wings because of defence counter attacking football, using his pace. BLUEBOY1

Where can I find the season review ?

Keep thinking Ram would make a good RB, considering the competition on RW and in the centre
