It seems that in the end Cavani will not join CFC. If Suarez goes to Real Cavani will follow.
I presume this will be CFC squad next year:
GK Cech, (hop. )Foster, Blackman
RB Ivan, Azpilicueta
LB Cole, Bertrand
CB Terry, Luiz, Cahill, Mangala
DM Essien, Mikel or Khedira (Ramires can always cover this position if nec. )
CM Lampard, Ramires, Oscar, Sneijder or K. P. Boateng
Wingers: Hazard, Hulk, Schurrle, DeBruyne
CF Džeko or Gomez, Demba, Lukaku

v. Ginkel will sign and be loaned for 1 year.
Romeu, Chalobah, Marin-loan
Moses and Torres sold which I am not happy about.

Any com.?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mata?

Agree0 Disagree0

I am afraid Mata will be sold too.

Agree0 Disagree0

You expect 7 signings? I'd just wait for Fifa14 too come out mate, might be your only hope.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Hulk comes Mata will have to be sold, if not he is one of 4 wingers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mata will have to be sold?!

What is wrong with all the people who think mata will go?

He is our best player and he is definitely not going anywhere in the foreseeable future so don't worry!

Agree0 Disagree0

From my post Chelsea will sign Mangala, Sneijder, Schurrle, Dzeko and van Ginkel. Other names are their alternatives. It makes 5 players signed by Chelsea. 20+12+8+18+25 that is 83m all together.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh and your post is absolute rubbish mate. Pulling figures out of thin air as well as names. Don't worry though, fifa14 isn't far off

I hate to say it, but maybe Cavani is holding out and wants a move to Madrid, Most south americans do!
If he doesn't want to play for Chelsea, let's move on. We have got goals all the way through this team. Keep Torres, offload Ba. Torres, Lukaku and abumayang up front with Shurrle, mata, Hazard, Osca etc, etc. We will still do great now Jose is home.

Luke

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have a feeling it is Napoli who are holding out for other teams.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cavani said he doesn't really want to go to madrid because he thinks he doesn't suit their style of play apparently

Agree0 Disagree0

I also think Napoli is holding out for the most money, But, I think if Cavani wanted the move he could push for it.
Transfer request, whatever. I just don't want anyone at Chelsea, who does not want to be there. Just saying. :)
Luke

Agree0 Disagree0

Cavani's preferred choice is Real, but they are currently pursuing Suarez. That leaves Chelsea and City in the prem and apparently Cavani is more drawn towards living in London.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can you blame Napoli for wanting as much money as possible?
When will they ever have the chance to sell a player for such a huge amount again and especially with 3 of the wealthiest clubs in the world all showing a strong interest.
If we truly want Cavani we either pay what they want or it'll drag to the end of the window when either teams have had enough of dealing with Napoli or there is only one team left willing to make them an offer they find acceptable. Don't expect anything to happen soon!

Me personally thinks we should go all out to get him! Since Neymar signed for Barcelona they've made over 10 million on him through marketing. Cavani is a world class centre forward who would be the face of Chelsea for years to come

Hi Ed,

Just wondering whether Aubameyang is a player that still interests Chelsea?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd hope so Steve, he is a player who will become world class. i'd rather have a player who will become world class for 20m rather than one who is already reached world class 50m+

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Tommy!

Luke {Ed018's Note - i also would like to see Chelsea go after Aubameyang if they miss out on Cavani}

Agree0 Disagree0

Good to see we're all in agreement (well, three of us and Ed018!).

Aubameyang offers versatility in that he can offer width as well as being an upgrade in the striking department. Versatility and youth seem to be two key areas for our recruitment strategy, so Michael Emenalo, if you're reading this. sign him up. :)

I think there will be some CAVANI news before midnight!.

Hey Ed and fellow Chelsea fans.

Just wondering if you are aware of any approaches for season long loans for our younger players next year i. e vanholt, KDB, Piazon, ake, Chabolah, Lukaku and so on. if possible could you list the names of clubs that have enquired if time allows.

secondly is there any updates regarding Cavani or Hulk has of yet?

anythign to report on the search for a cb yet either?

Thanks for your time, enjoy your weekend.

i don't think there is actually a chance we will sign cavani as I think its a cert that city will offer him the most wages he will go there as we will not match the package they would offer think back to aguero we where followng him for a long time but more money so he went to city

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well it is simple for me. If we do not sign Cavani we can forget the title because there is no decent striker available and if MC sign Cavani they have the title. Aguero and Cavani are going to tear defences apart. Proitos

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree, we cannot match the financial muscle of either Real or City, when it comes down to it one or the other will agree to pay more or offer larger wages, I would be surprised if we managed to sin him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on guys. Man u didn't have half the squad that man c or us had last season, but they walked away with the tittle. Its not just having the best players on the highest wages, its about making your squad/team work as a unit and giving there all for the club. Half of the man c players don't give a S**t about tge club, just big numbers monthly. We have a hard core spine of passionate players who whould die for our club. That just can't be bought!

Luke

Agree0 Disagree0

Cavani wants to live in London if he moves to England.

It remains only Cavani and mangala and we are good to go

It wil be better if we keep de bryune and also giv e marin a chance, great that we got schrulle both can help improve our chances.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hazard/schurrle- mata/Oscar - debruyne/ Marin. That's a perfect trio to rotate in my eyes. I'm not a Moses fan, which is the reason I left him out. This area of the pitch is perfect now. let's sort out the midfield and striker situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Marin isn't good enough, simple, it will be Hazard, Mata, Schurrle, De Bruyne and Oscar fighting for three positions, if Oscar goes deeper, then we need an Am (Hopefully Isco). Moses will be used occasionally, but again, techniqally,
is nothing compared to the 5 mentioned.

1. Schurrle, Kevin De Bruyne, Oscar, Mata, Hazard and Moses is enough attacking options with quality, skill and pace.
2. Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Bertrand, Mangala is adequate defensive options.
3. De Rossi, Ramires, Van Ginkel, Lampard, Mikel, and the pivot is sorted.
4. Cavani, Lukaku is ok for me with Schurrle and Moses providing cover when needed.
5. Cech, Lopez and Blackman.
Now this is a very competitive squad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not sure about de Rossi would prefer a younger faster dm

Agree0 Disagree0

Four players for the two man midfield get out of it. Plus mikel and Moses should go. We need 6 at least. 2 def mids, 2 playmakers. 2 box to box.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2013 16:02:41
Happy with the Schurrle purchase but desperate for us to really push for Isco, he is so talented.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't you think we've got enough talent already in attacking midfield? Especially now with Schurrle.

Jackson

Agree0 Disagree0

Watch the U21's he is going to be amazing. Moses is a depth option, KDB is a depth option next season who will become Lampards successor hopefuly. Oscar, Mata, Hazard played far to many games, he would be perfect in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

I respect your opinion, but I think every squad needs its own utility players. You can't have all superstars in one team. Sure you've got to have a couple, but chelsea already has those in Hazard, Mata and Luiz. Moses is a perfect type of player to fill in against weaker teams in the league while our stars can take care of the big teams. I wouldn't start Isco over Hazard or Mata. A player like Schurrle next to those 2 is just what the team needs. Someone who doesn't play that same kind of game as the others but who's a little different.
Really don't see the need for him, even though he's brilliant.

Jackson

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Moses is perfect for anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really don't see Isco coming. He'll either go to City or Bayern.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't like Moses either pal. Few good goals rest of his game is terrible.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2013 15:59:13
Is schurrle seen as a winger or a striker in Chelsea's eyes?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cover for both

Winger and cover for striker

Ed, do you believe that Mata will leave Chelsea this summer? {Ed018's Note - no}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jun 2013 10:55:07
Dear ed
Are barca still looking at luis. I believe we should sell, as I see luis is a luxury player. What I mean by that is, he is not a central defender. However if you examine him in the role of holding midfielder. When he is good he's very good, but he is not consistent. Also when he loses the ball hem doesn't chase ba ck to rectify his error. He regularly ambles back and we concede he then looks round to blame others. When he should look closer to home. A few might not like this sale. I feel the money could be spent on a better utility player because that is what luis is a utility player
Andy b

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Last season he was the only player consistently who I saw be passionate. I love what he brings to CDM and his overall game. I disagree strongly but respect your decision.

Agree0 Disagree0

Roman really need that money?

Agree0 Disagree0

Potential to be the best defender in the world, if Mourinho can sort his postioning out. We shouldn't be selling anyone other than Mikel, Torres and Bruma.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with PB1989, Luiz was (IMO) in the top three performers for CFC last season, and I could not have seen us winning the EL without him, there were numerous games where we looked flat and devoid of ideas until Luiz stepped up to increase the tempo and add some attacking intent.

That and he scored some cracking goals!

Agree0 Disagree0

Give him a season under Mourinho you will see a change and he will be come a world class player every game.

Agree0 Disagree0

I felt that last season, him, Mata and Hazard were our three best and most consistent players.

JMJW

Agree0 Disagree0

I think original poster read to much and doesn't watch too much football. Luiz was one of the best players last season (behind mata and equal to hazard). He is amazing guys.

I believe that under JM he will become even better

Agree0 Disagree0

Whilst Luiz still has his problems, he improved under Benitez so it stands to reason that JM could get the best out of him. And I have to agree with PB. His passion alone would make me not want to sell him. So many times last year, the team was lacklustre and showed no real desire or passion to win.

13 Jun 2013 10:02:46
In relation to Marko Van Ginkel, Marc Overmars has said Ajax were very interested, but that they can't compete with Chelsea financially. It would seem this one is getting closer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And I doubt, given the choice, Vitesse would sell to a rival above CFC.
I think it will all depend on the player himself, if he thinks its a good move he will come.

Nathaniel Chalobahs career has taken off in the past year. This season has shown that if a loan spell is done right it can do extraordinary things. That said over the past year he has moved from a centre half to a centre mid. With the current players we have I wonder if he would be better suited as a cente half. In the midfield we have a few players who are very similar including Luiz loftus-cheek (albeit down the line) and somewhat mikel with the possible addition of van ginkel being similar as well. In addition to this we have a lot of options in the midfield that still have plenty of time at this level. When you look at the centre of defense you see a different picture. Terry is about done, ivanovic is getting there, and while Cahill still has some years I think we can all agree he's not a first rate defender. You have ake coming through the youth but you have to be hoping he will grow as he's rather short (spare the cannavaro comparisons). I think chalobah has the potential to be a world class centre half with bags of athleticism and the ability to play the ball. With all of this said where would you guys have him play?

Tk

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I woul hope he's utelised in the centre of a 4-3-3, a midfeild of this = ======KDB CHALOBAH OSCAR, could be gereat

Billy

Agree0 Disagree0

2014/15 season when it's likely lamps won't be playing and possibly Essien and mikle have left. It will be awesome to have these players rotating threw the midfield two: Luiz, Rami, Van Ginkle, Oscar and chalobah. What a midfield to call upon.

Cfc Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

He needs a premier league loan this season. Because evn though he had a good championship, I saw a few poor games from him. And sometimes looked a little slack when tracking back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Terry is far from done IMO.
Cahill will only get better and I think he's good enough with the right partner, IMO he's better than Ivan.
Chaloba, from what I've seen is defiantly a CM.

It may happen in about 5 years.

I think signing Cavani, van Ginkel, Mangala and Shaw - plus back up keeper is enough with KDB, Lukaku and Kalas coming back plus Romeu near to being injury free.

Sell Mikel, Torres or Ba (pref Ba) and Bertrand.

Stamford70

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We need players like Bertrand.
he doesn't earn a great deal ( in football terms)
will be happy to play 20 games a season 15 of which off the bench.
and he won't moan.
Why do you think Manchester United won so much in the 2000's they had players like Fletcher, kagawa ect they always have had players like Butt, who just do the job and no drama's.
you can't have a team of starters because people will no be happy.
SQUAD PLAYERS! we need them

Agree0 Disagree0

I completely agree with you Stamford except keep Betrand.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bertrand is a good squad player, but when AC goes he's not good enough to replace him.
We should sign Shaw (being a Chelsea fan hopefully could work in our favour) and loan him back to so'ton until he's ready

Agree0 Disagree0

OBT, we would have squad cover for every position. Bertrand just isn't the quality to replace Cole who is heading for the twilight of his career.

Stamford70

Agree0 Disagree0

All honesty after van aanholts season in holland, I think we would be foolish to play Bertrand above Patrick. BLUEBOY1

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with most of it Stamford, however we should give Bertrand another season. I agree that he will never be Cole's successor and PVA had a good season but I'd want PVA to have a season in the Premier league before I decide which would be the better back-up/competition for first team football.
