What with John Stones going to City for a ridiculous fee, the club are going to have to pay a considerable amount to sign a "class A" egg centre half.

Hopefully it will happen with Koulibaly but, if Everton are offering more, it may cause us to overpay.

I wonder if Napoli will come out and declare it a disgrace that Everton are interested in Koulibaly, the same way Everton did with us and Stones and are now, ironically, not doing with City's interest. It must only apply if you want to sign an Everton player and are Chelsea.

Ed002, would it be possible to give any names the club may be considering as other options for centre half if Koulibaly does not come. I used the search engine but could not get names recently.

Thanks Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to give any more lists but if Chelsea are unable to sign Koulibaly then they may talk again with Roma about Manolas.}

Surely they won't sell Manolas with Rudiger out long term.

{Ed002's Note - They don't want to but he won't sign a new deal and Juan Jesus is arriving.}

Koulibaly and Manolas both look like good players from what I've seen of them and most importantly look as if they could cut it in the prem. Manolas certainly more of a finished article at this moment in time but Koulibaly appears to have massive potential as he is powerful yet technically pretty great for a centre back. A lot of posters have moaned about our activity this window but I'm very happy with the players being targeted. One of those centre back along with Kante for midfield and I'll be very satisfied. Can't wait for the new season, pictures of the players with Conte in training today didn't help either!

Just thought I would ask who fans think the captain will be under conte. Obviously if JT plays regular it will be him but if he's not, then who?
My choice would be hazard but can we guarantee him will still be at Chelsea next season, I don't think we can. Maybe fabregas would be the best option as I see him spending his last few years in top flight football at Chelsea.

Disagree mate.
Hazard isn't captian material.

Like Ronaldo and zaltan . they are only captains because they are the best player in the team. which shouldn't be the case.

Personally I think Iva or Dave is prob the best Captian options. but I don't think Iva will be at Chelsea must longer.

Azpilicueta for me personally but it's hard because I don't think any standout.

If he can up his level, I think Matic could be captain material. For The future, perhaps also Christensen.

Kante would be our best signing since Makalele.

Unfortunately, Kante is far from a done deal. There are a number of clubs willing to meet his release clause price but the most likely outcome is that Kante will sign a new contract with Leicester a la Vardy.

How do you know that? If there was a contract on the table for him to sign from Leicester and if he wanted to stay, why hasn't he signed it? He could of asked for whatever money he wanted. Maybe he hasn't signed it because he knows that this season will be a lot tougher then last and wants a club who he knows will be challenging for the league.

Just a though huh?

I don't Kante would reject chelsea over Leicester.

Yardy rejected Arsenal over Leicester. Maybe his teamates will persuade him to stay and have another year, to see how they go in the champions league.

Vardy is a striker and personally at a top club I don't think he would be first choice and a starter. which he wants. That's why I think he moved on.
And he is 29.
However Kante is 25 I belive and there's not many top out and out def mids out there.

Vardy rejected arsenal, a) because it's arsenal. And b) their style of play is the complete opposite to his. He might have been able to adjust his style but he'd likely end up on the bench for the majority of the season imo.
