Could frank Lampard cost chelsea the premiership title. Never thought I would say that. 2 points against us, 3 points today. Why didn't he stay in the USA.

Would of been 2 points today if he never scored

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on, sid, that's some basic mathematics you got wrong there haha :-)
If we don't win the league then it won't be because of Lampard playing for City. It's a bit of a shame that he said he'd never sign for a rival team, he just had to know this would happen when he signed for a team with the same owners as City. He'll probably extend his loan until the end of the season, if you ask me.
But it won't be because of him if we don't end up winning. Relax :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he signed for NYCFC on the understanding he would be playing for Melbourne City, but they changed the rules in Australia and they couldn't afford Frank Lampard as well as David Villa. As Villa was already announced, Frank was stuck in limbo and Manchester City was the only option left.}

Of course

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember asking on here if anyone else was pi##ed about Lamps signing for city but everyone was relaxed no biggy it's all good. Well is it now?
He is beast, and though I don't think he'll be the reason we don't win the league mostly cause I believe we will win it, he is certainly the reason city remain three points behind us. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Would have been absolutely amazing seeing frank Lampard out here. Even though the quality over here is pretty rubbish, one of the greatest games I have experienced (been too) is when Brisbane Roar (where I live) were two goals down against central coast mariners, in the 86 minute. Two goals back and it went to penalty shoot outs, I was just behind the goal, upper so had a perfect veiw of Henrique scoring the winning penalty. Quality game. Although, Brisbane are so so bad this year, after winning last year, were now last. Pretty annoying.

What was the greatest game you have experienced?

(Ed - new thread if it's possible)

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh okay Ed001, I didn't know that.Still I'm not too bothered with him playing for City. If he wants to extend his loan for example, I'm happy for him. Just annoyed that he scored against us, but I'm annoyed when any player scores against us so yeah haha :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember that ELI lol, and people was having a go at you saying he's just being a professional.

Have zero qualms. I had been one of the people saying that he should have been moved on after he broke the record. When you take a look at Liverpools issues with getting a system that works which includes Gerard it's not hard to see.

Mikel did not play his best game today, but I'm glad everyone hasn't jumped on his back like everyone normally does when he puts in a poor performance.

14 Dec 2014 10:44:00
Matic was just as poor as Mikel, it was like they were having some kind of competition of who can give the ball away the most. As for the amount of times the ball was passed back to Cech to just hoof up the field, no idea what was going on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah true, Matic was awful.

Whole team wasn't up to it again per grimace wise, got the three points against a terrible side though :)

14 Dec 2014 22:11:04
They struggled as both are used to playing the same role. It sounds crazy but in my opinion cesc's best attribute is his ability to form an outlet for his teammates. He is fabulous at making off the ball runs that take defenders out of the play as well.

One thing that annoys me about this site u get these fans who moan over 1 bad performance and start slating players like Cahill! So what if he not been up to your standard but he been a bloody rock for a long time! Top of the league and lost 1 bloody game and people still moan just go and do one!

Agree0 Disagree0

What's wrong with wanting a player to raise his game? Everyone's happy with the win, but a win doesn't mean that nothing can be improved. It wasn't a great performance and neither was the Newcastle game nor the Sunderland game.
Cahill has been a steady performer for a long time, but lately he has been exposed and I stand by my opinion (an opinion which I've had for a long time) that we could improve the CB position.
If you disagree with people, that's fine, just don't get annoyed by things like that. Your life will be much less stressful like that ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Dec 2014 22:07:59
People can moan all they like everyone's entitled to an opinion. Cahill has been rock solid but we don't need silly diving same with Willian things like that will cost us three points.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cahill has been a brilliant pickup and an absolute steal for 6 million + relatively low wages. I support him through everything and is a great man as well a a great player.

But in high block, something me and Jackson have agreed on countless times towards the beginning of the season (and last season even), he simply doesn't cut it. A player like Benatia or Varane, or even Zouma to prove his worth would be more beneficial.

We are not whinging, we are supporting Cahill just as much as you, just becuase we have an opinion does not mean we are being stupid and jumping to a conclusion off one game!

:) chill

14 Dec 2014 07:41:51
So you want to replace a proven top premiership player with a unproven player! Yea great one! Cahill been class and if he under performing he will raise it again! I wonder what u were saying when terry had a dip in form? Cahill is a future captain of this club

Agree0 Disagree0

Having an opinion is all good & well but it's another 3 points, still top, did what they had to do so I don't think that warrants anything negative to say other than diving which was pretty disgusting to watch!

Agree0 Disagree0

Aron, you're absolutely right. We're not saying that he should be dropped completely or sold, but if the club could get Varane for example then they should do so! Like Aron said, Cahill isn't exactly great in a high defensive line. Neither is Terry, but I think JT is more important to the team than Terry right now.
And Zouma has been generally good when he's played so I think he deserves to start a league game, certainly now Cahill's having a bit of a rough patch. There are enough games to rotate the 3 CB's, everyone would still play.
And again, just because we won doesn't mean everything was A okay. There are always things that can be improved. I'm delighted with the win, I really am, but I still think Cahill again put the result at risk.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jackson I usually agree with you on most things but the answer to a player having a rough patch isn't to go buy another to replace him! It's just a dip in form relax! Terry went through it, Costa went through it, every player on the planet goes through it so just have a little faith, if we somehow got varane it would be to replace terry not Cahill, zouma will get he's chance when the manager thinks he's ready. that's he's job after all

Agree0 Disagree0

You're forgetting that Ivanovic is a better CD than all 3 mentioned. I agree that if Varane comes he will most probably replace JT.

Agree0 Disagree0

Again, situation mate, it wouldn't be a replacement, just a different player to play a different role.

Pinky, not replacing. Adapting.

If I was wanting to replace Cahill, I'd probably post something like ' Cahill is garbage, time and time again he makes mistakes, we need to get rid, only in the team becuase he's English and best mates with terry'.

Stop jumping to conclusions. We have zero defenders that can play the high line well enough, and has been consistent with it for a couple of years, that's why we, and the Boss, Jose, want Raphael Varane.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair situation88, I've wanted Varane ever since I Jose came back to Chelsea. Indeed he'd be a long term replacement to Terry IMO and not to Cahill.
Just hope he shakes off his current form and gets back to playing confidently :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed MN, Ivanovic is highly underrated. However, his diving really annoys me

Cahill has been a good defender alongside Terry for a long time. But this season he has been making far too many mistakes. Granted they may not have cost us points but there has to come a time when Zouma should get a chance. Every time Zouma has played he has been solid, he is so athletic and strong and games like this today would be perfect for him to gain more experience. Cahill could have been sent off for the first challenge today never mind the Tom Daley dive in the second half. I think he could do with a couple of games out just to refresh himself as right now he seems to be all over the place.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good points ^ I'm willing to give him time though :)

Buy this buy that do none of u watch the youngster christean (spelling) if Jose had the balls to just give these top up and coming talent a little bit of game time mabe 20mins at the end of a game that's already won he would be ready to replace the likes of terry! Look at kalas against Liverpool he was top draw we don't need to buy we need to be clever and bleed these talents into the Chelsea way

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok that's fair enough but he's human he's made a few mistakes, feels like because he's had a bit of a rough patch everybody doubts him, if he's been that bad I'm pretty sure mourinho would of changed it around as again that's he's job, top of the league, highest scorers in the league, best defence in the league alongside Southampton, most wins, least losses. could go on all day, don't fix what's not broken just have a bit of faith we all know he can be better & do better

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2014 15:59:09
Agree with pinky there Kalas and Christensen should be brought through I can't see Varane happening anyway. Kalas looked quality away at Cardiff and Liverpool last season. He's a much better centre half than right back. Give them there chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree on Kalas, he could probably do a good job. However, he would benefit from regular game time, something he sadly hasn't gotten at Cologne this season on loan.
Christensen looks a very talented player, but I think that physically he's not ready yet to play meaningful games. He still looks so frail and I think he'd get bullied too easily to be a CB for us right now.

This is what am saying bleed these kids into the side if your 2 or 3 up with 20 to go chuck them in and see what they got! Not a pathetic 8mins loftus cheek got in a dead rubber game! That was poor form from jose

Agree0 Disagree0

Jackson, he's at Koln, and yeah it's a shame.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah Aron, thanks :) I wasn't sure how it was written in English and I thought I saw it written as 'Cologne' somewhere. My mistake haha

Glad to get back on track away even though we were quite poor. I think it's mainly down to Fabregas's playmaking skills in the centre. One thing I liked the look of today was the full backs in there proper positions. Filipe Luis wasn't great the other night but he played well today and he'll get back to form with constantly playing. It would be hard to drop either Ivanovic or Azpilicueta but I really think naturally footed full backs make us a better threat going forward. Willian was poor offensively today and I'm wondering if he is the answer there, I'd love to see Schurrle have a good run of games because he's much better going forward and he also has a good work rate. Willian will never be an 'Eden Hazard' but I do expect him to score more. 1 goal in 16 games including being a substitute is nowhere near enough a good return for a winger. If there's interest in Cuadrado a natural winger I'd like to see us sell Willian or Schurrle to get him. Cahill seems to be in poor form too, if Zouma has another solid game on Tuesday because I'd imagine he'll start Mourinho may have a decision to make ahead of the Stoke game which will be tough. Our away forms my biggest worry. Sunderland and Newcastle were examples and we didn't get 3 points so I'm expecting a professional win on Monday. Come on the chels!

Delighted with the points even though the performance left a lot to be desired. We didn't give them many chances so that's good. I'm also relieved we immediately got back to winning in the league (after that Newcastle game).
All in all I'm happy and glad to see Jose rotate the fullbacks.
One last point, Cahill really really has to up his game. Again he did some dodgy things and easily could've been sent off. We got lucky that he didn't get a second yellow. Zouma should realise that perhaps he's got a legitimate shot at more minutes if he trains well.

Good result, on to Derby! Bamford killed 'em already today, hopefully our first team strikers can do the same haha :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hopefully Zouma can cement his spot. Or I hope more, Cahill becomes an absolute tank lol

Please can we see some youth again Derby :)

Apart from the goal, there was nothing positive from the first half IMO. Poor overall.

{Ed018's Note - about put me to sleep}

Exactly Ed. Not sure why we need 2 defensive midfielders when Hull are playing 5 at the back. It's just beyond frustrating that we can seem to go from being good to being rather pathetic within 15 mins. The goal was in equal parts Hull being poor and Chelsea being decent.

13 Dec 2014 16:05:49
Haha was thinking the same thing Ed018.

13 Dec 2014 16:09:04
If it carries on like this I can see Hull getting a point.

Agree0 Disagree0

So true

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats worse is every player is diving. Absolutely disgraceful.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes fuser, I was going to comment on that as well. I dislike seeing our players dive, it's a disgrace to the game and makes the ref's job even harder. On top of that it's an infuriatingly stupid way to get a yellow. Costa has a knack for getting yellows and subsequently suspensions so he shouldn't resort to that.
What Cahill did was extremely risky, just like that he could've been sent off. I'm not sure whether his was actually a dive or whether he just wanted to avoid contact. But still risky nonetheless.
Mourinho should give them a serious talking to though.

According to BBC sport, we are going with Mikel in the starting 11. let's hope we see a positive performance from him.

I like the team apart from I think Zouma deserves a chance alongside JT instead of Cahill. Cahill has made too many mistakes this season and whenever Zouma has played he has looked solid.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. Cahill has looked a bit shaky ever since that knock. i'm glad Luis has got another chance. I think Azpilicueta is amazing but I believe the lack of width on the left has cost on occasion. We will see, Bring on the game!!

Good to see Bamford scoring regularly for Middlesbrough at the moment. My guess would be a premier league loan next season, see how he progresses and then being involved in a first team role in the 2016/17 season.
