Is they any interest in Charlie Austin?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed018's Note - as of the other day there was no interest from Chelsea}

12 Jun 2015 19:51:28
RLC has shown some humility this week whilst with the U21's. I like the lad, he's a potentially good EPL footballer. I hope he, and his agent, don't go the way of Stirling or Wilshire. Both were lorded as saviours of English football from the ages of 16/17 and at age 20 they bought into the hype and thought they should be the highest paid / guaranteed 1st team players at their respective clubs.

RLC has only let himself down in 1 first team game one day but I firmly believe his progression negates the need to sign a Pogba or Koke this summer - he just need to keep his head on straight.

Totally agree more games next season will help him. That's why I'd prefer us not so sign someone like Koke, Gomes or Pogba. We need a stop gap someone experienced who will guide him.

12 Jun 2015 20:23:34
I agree that he could definitely contribute and in the future be a big part of our team. But if the club can buy Pogba, then they should do it. The club shouldn't let a huge talent like Pogba pass by just because RLC could perhaps in the future be very good. Pogba is already very good and could become one of the best players in the world.
That said, I don't believe Pogba will be sold for a reasonable price so I suspect Chelsea won't be his destination.

13 Jun 2015 05:24:33
Agree with Jackson wholeheartedly. You don't pass on a phenomenal talent for someone who could turn out to be a phenomenal talent. I think it will be tough for real or Barca to get their usual discount on him considering the widespread interest so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

13 Jun 2015 09:36:55
For me, despite his obvious talent, the valuations being banded around for Pogba make it a transfer best avoided.

As I said Pogba is a talented footballer however this talent is shown off in flashes, it's certainly not consistent. No consistency in Serie A - a lesser league than the EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga and arguably Ligue 1 - is a worrying factor for potentially the most expensive signing of all time. Add to that the fact that he tends to go missing in the UCL against bigger clubs and the worrying factors are starting to add up.

13 Jun 2015 18:56:15
I think j's criticism is a touch unfair. The biggest complaint most had with hazard going into this year was a lack of consistency and I feel many people expect to see pogba absolutely run the show every single game he plays which is tough considering the defensive work he does. And also I think the price issue is very much relative, in the media pogba is quoted at 60m while Gomes price is double what the club feels it should be according to Ed and I'm certain koke would also be extremely expensive. The going rate for guys who are an improvement on what we currently have are going to be in this price range.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2015 20:33:59
Price being quoted for Pogba is around the fee payed for Ronaldo, Bale, James or Suarez. one of the most expensive players ever. All those players, all the players that go for this fee, were consistently excellent for their respective teams before moving. all of them were excellent in a much more competitive league. If Pogba is going to be that fee then I do expect him to run every game in Italy and perform a hell of a lot better in Europe.

He'd be an excellent signing for £30m - but that's it.

Forgotten man Oriol Romeu looking forward to Chelsea pre season? Selling Obi Mikel and bringing him into the squad could be a financial master stroke!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

13 Jun 2015 08:36:25
I always liked him when he played for us. Solid holding midfielder and he's got some good passing from his years at La Masia.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2015 16:00:09
Completely agree here with you Jackson as I always rated Romeu highly, sadly I believe his injury at that time when played for us didn't do him any good. Anyway I would be more than happy with him playing for us if (and I hope and dream) we sell mikel

Andre Gomes is now off the market, after signing a 5 year deal with Valencia. Koke has said that he doesn't want to leave, and any deal for Pogba looks to be very difficult. Looks like our 3 first choice midfielders are out of reach now, a move for Kongdobia or Gundogan(Now that Dortmund have rejected Barcelona's proposal) perhaps?

PR!

12 Jun 2015 13:35:11
Still believe we should go for scheiderlin as he is PL proven and generally great player

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Jun 2015 14:28:43
Damn, is it official? I really wanted Gomes :-(
I know the club probably don't hold an interest in him, but what would everyone think about Song on loan for next season? He's a quality player and him alongside Matic could be awesome in the bigger games. He could be a shrewd acquisition.
Thoughts guys and gals :)

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 14:32:34
that is a shame, I liked the idea of gomes at Chelsea. I have never thought koke would leave atleti but if he did I would think he would go to barca. as LRDit said schneiderlin is pl proven however i'm not convinced he is what we need and i'd rather have a matic double who could play alongside when we have a tough game

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 14:33:12
Gundogan, Kondogbia, Schneiderlin or even Song any of those players would be a good signing.

12 Jun 2015 14:38:01
How about RLC next to Matic in the games when we need power with Cesc moved into the '10'?

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 17:17:51
Jkb that's a very good idea but do you still believe in Santa?

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Jun 2015 17:28:03
That sounds like a pretty realistic option to me. if we sign a winger then Willian & cesc will be taking up the no 10 role with Willian rotating on the right aswel! More concerned about which striker we will bring

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 18:35:05
Schneiderlin looks to be off to Arsenal, Wenger has strong ties with the player and it looks like a deal that'll be done. Kongdobia I expect will be expensive and another player that'll be hotly contested for. I'm all for Loftus Cheek getting experience, but the games that require Fabregas to play further forward are the games against the top opposition that need players with far more experience.
Nainggolan would be a good signing, looks to be a good all round midfield player that I think would complement Matic. I do have reservations over the potential market price, and actually whether Roma would sell.

Axel Witsel would be another good player, but I question his price, and he looks to be off to Juventus so it may be a difficult deal.

Other options are Sven Bender, Lars Bender, Luis Gustavo and Matuidi.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 19:20:08
PR!, what would you think about Song joining on loan?

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 19:44:57
Song is a good player Jackson, but I don't think he's at the level or need for Chelsea. He's a ball player, not a ball winner. I do doubt his all round game, and if you look at Koke and Pogba, both are athletic, strong, good tacklers but also fantastic going forward. As a last resort maybe, but I question a player that didn't make too much of an impact for a team like West Ham last year.

If we wanted to look for players from the Premier League I would look at Schneiderlin and Bentaleb. But neither would come to Chelsea or are being looked at by Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - I wish Chelsea would show some interest in Schnederlin but that looks very unlikely but everything I've read up on Allan says he is a phenomenal ball winner. Not sure about going forward but he'd be a backup to Matic and probably not on the same level as the other names that've been discussed. To me Song isn't good enough for Chelsea}

12 Jun 2015 19:49:39
Looks like the club want Allen in now as a defensive midfielder according to ED 02 on the other page.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 20:16:45
Matuidi would be a good option for me. Doubt PSG will sell though.

Agree0 Disagree2

12 Jun 2015 20:25:50
I'm very very wary of players from the Italian league. They look great there, but the Premier League is a different game. I'd rather the club give Van Ginkel a chance or even Romeu or Chalobah than buying a guy like Allan.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed018's Note - as I'm I at this point with how Cuadrado has looked}

12 Jun 2015 21:36:08
Having watched Allan in Serie A games this year, from what I've seen he is a fantastic ball winner.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2015 05:30:52
Nice to see you back pr, it's been a minute or two. I think if we don't get a guy in the Pogba/Gomes/Koke category than we should go for a guy who is currently world class and on the market such as a Vidal. To think Reuben will be getting major minutes next year is a touch short unrealistic. we have a lot of talent in the midfield for him to get past as it stands and we're talking about bringing in another very high level midfielder as well.

Agree0 Disagree1

13 Jun 2015 08:41:08
I just don't like it when the club bring in players that probably aren't actually better than what we have on loan. I'm fairly positive Chalobah or Van Ginkel could do a good job for us as midfield depth if we don't get Koke or Gomes. I just don't understand why they'd spend money on someone like Allan (though I haven't seen him play) when we've got good young midfielders out on loan. Chalobah has shown what a talent he is, why not give him a chance. Romeu was starting regularly for us under AVB, maybe give him a shot. No need to spend on average Serie A players when we've got good players out on loan.
Same principle applies to a player of the caliber of Douglas Costa. Why bring him in when we've got Moses and Traore out on loan.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - If you have not seen Allan play, perhaps starting your post "Speaking from a position of complete ignorance ....".}

14 Jun 2015 12:43:37
T.k, what do you mean by 'it's been a minute or two'? Touch of unnecessary sarcasm perhaps?

{Ed001's Note - We have posted a new article entitled, Man City Should Steer Clear Of Sterling

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Jun 2015 00:17:57
i no transfer window just opened but I hope we do our buying soon everyone around us getting involved and everyone were interested in are signing new contracts. we need them that are going to be released and are targets got simple ( though I no its not that simple, we had a better season because we did our transfers early)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Jun 2015 02:50:41
It'll be tough to be as successful at conducting early business like we did last summer because most of the guys were after have quite a few clubs chasing them.

12 Jun 2015 06:39:38
Everyone around us? Who have city, arsenal and united signed then? I must've missed that.

involved liverpool signed milner and ings united depay city had bid for sterling turned down. involved the word

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 10:14:08
And you know for a fact we haven't approached anyone yet or is it only true if its in the redtops? Liverpool aren't in our league and I'd rather make no signings than milner and ings.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he also seems to have missed that Man Utd are about to lose their best player.}

12 Jun 2015 11:00:50
I'd rather see them keep De Gea then have them coming after Cech if DDG does leave. Can't stand the thought of Cech playing for United :-P
But you're right, Ed. De Gea is/was their best player and won them a lot of points.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2015 12:37:49
I don't really see cech as shi**er keeper to DG as he at leat can control is area when long balls comes in, that's why I believe courtouis is better than DG as he command his area where DG makes sick saves but are poor in other aspects
