For me the whole process of who will be our manager next year has been an embarrassment.
I'm sure the senior management have their reasons for its actions but I'm, not for the first time, perplexed.

Knowing us we'll fail to reach an agreement with Sarri now and we'll be left manager less for the start of the season.

Obviously I'm only joking, but with our club you just never ever know!

Looks like you lost your bets then Tom? That inside information you get is letting you down mate lol.

Yep G8 done my money. Betting with your heart rather than your head is never a good idea.
The guy I know at the club has told me things over the years that have been spot on.
Last year he told me Conte would be our manager for the remainder of the season. This was contrary to popular belief and I got pelted by fellow posters.
The same guy told me JT would sign a one year contract extension. He didn’t and again I got slaughtered by some friends.
Most recently he told me that the management issue and the signing of two players would be announced in the next 48 hours. The 48 hours expired at 8pm this evening.
I now understand, that despite our best efforts, how difficult it is for rumours to become fact.
So with that in mind, I have every sympathy for the Ed’s. Not everything they say will happen, they are just giving their time and insight to help us and for that help, they have been abused.

I’m beccoming increasingly worried about losing Hazard. What does everyone think, will he stay or will he go?

Hate to say it but I'm pretty sure he's off this summer although I'm confident it'll take close to what PsG paid for Neymar to take him away. Just hope that we replace him adequately although I'm not sure who can replace some like Eden Hazard to be honest.

Hi Ed’s,

Do you know what the plan for Luiz is?

When Conte was in charge it seemed pretty certain he wasn’t going to be in the first team any time soon during that second season but with Conte seemingly out and Sarri hopefully coming in could he be a part of the side this season?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - he was surplus but I believe he is going to see what Sarri has to say.}

12 Jul 2018 19:48:19
Do hope that he's given another chance, he was awesome for us in that title winning season and not sure he deserved to be dropped. He's a big character too and loves the club so I want to see more of him.

Surplus because he had a different opinion.

Hour thank you for conte and what he done and the absolute scenes on the touch line. Turned out wasn't a great fit, manager and board stubborn, wish him the very very best, we go again.

Sad that it didn't work out but I think it's a good decision, especially if it means we hold on to our key players. got to laugh at the reaction of other clubs fans calling us classless for sacking yet another manager. Like every club has never sacked a manager! It's the way football is these days, sad but true. I'm personally very excited to see what Sarri can bring to the table, Italians tend to do quite well here! Besides now we can truly focus on getting some additions in and getting ready for the new season! Can't wait.

Is Chelsea interested in Paulo Dybala?

12 Jul 2018 15:39:46
Ed 001 if Sarri does join Chelsea will you be excited to see Chelsea under him or worried? What a brand of football he will bring to them.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - depends in what respect you mean. Excited to watch you play under him, but worried as a Liverpool supporter in that he might actually get you back to the top of the league.}

12 Jul 2018 17:24:04
Yea I am also a Liverpool fan and I feel the exact same! He's going to need time though to bring in his type of players to play that way.

{Ed001's Note - oh sorry Volvic, just assumed you were a Chelsea fan as you asked it on here.}

The Conte news and England’s loss has cost me in the pocket but as Chelsea fans we are used to the departure of managers
My fellow posters know I wanted Conte to stay. I thank him for bringing us two more pots and I wish him all the best for the future.
I welcome our new manager and I hope he continues to make my club a successful club.

According to the Napoli lawyer:

for Jorginho "It's practically all done",

for Sarri "Sarri could sign either today or tomorrow, it's happening". "No other Napoli Player will leave for Chelsea".

I presume by signing he means sign the termination agreement with Napoli.

Ed001 I'd love to hear your opinion on who, as a realistic option (ie not Messi), would be best placed to replace Hazard?

It'd be really sad for our most naturally gifted attacking player to leave, just as we are about to hire a coach who demands attacking football, after so many years of pragmatic tactics.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Sarri does not tend to have the fast dribbling type like Hazard, he plays a quick passing game. It would probably be better to have a Suso, Nabil Fekir sort of player than Hazard. Someone who can be the creative hub in midfield. Jorginho will go some way towards helping, but you need more.}

12 Jul 2018 13:33:40
Hopefully we keep hold of Hazard but let's see who is willing to pay a near world record fee. What are your thoughts on Jorginho Ed1? It's a steal for us, man city must be gutted.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am not convinced he is suited to English football personally, he is a bit on the slow side. He is just a slight upgrade on Fabregas in terms of mobility. Might well need to be used in a Matic-type role, of sitting, but lacks a bit defensively. Mind a lot of that could be the way Sarri sets out the team, it does leave the defence exposed. If he can adapt then he will be great, but it is a big change.}

12 Jul 2018 13:41:09
Thanks for your reply, interesting to hear that as I thought Hazard would be an upgrade to the role Insigne played at Napoli.

I like Fekir, has an air of quality about him. I'll be delighted when Jorginho is confirmed, great player who'll dictate games for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I was thinking Hazard would not want to play the wider role.}

12 Jul 2018 13:50:13
obviously Fekir seems to be Liverpool and id think suso is not good enough ( could be wrong) but are you aware of any players like fekir and suso who would fit the mould? I think mount will suit sarri well but he is a year too early to start. cheers for the info Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - why not just give someone like Loftus-Cheek a chance?}

12 Jul 2018 14:34:42
Loftus-Cheek in midfield with Kante and Jorginho has amazing potential. Those three with Bakayoko, Fabregas and Barkley already offer a decent midfield squad. Mount will hopefully be ready to replace Fabregas in the next couple of years.

12 Jul 2018 14:56:51
fair point on loftus cheek, I just don't think it will happen. everton or palace for him I reckon. that's just a hunch, I think we messed him about too long.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2018 15:42:45
I think he, and other youngsters, have to be realistic. He can be in our first team squad, play a lot but not all games, or he can be the focal point at a team like Palace.

I think succeeding at a club like Chelsea for someone like Loftus-Cheek means trusting in your ability to go from bit part player to focal point.

Hazard is going to have a great season under Sarri ( if he stays) can not wait to see him in an attacking side with the shackles off.

12 Jul 2018 21:24:03
Is Mertens Calejan or Insigne not fast dribbling wingers ed? I’ve only seen little bits of the 3 but I thought they were similar in style but like I said I’ve not seen enough I’m just asking your expertise mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I was meaning central, as Hazard had said he wanted to play more central. Mertens is a false 9 these days, the sort of role I expected Hazard to take up really. Callejon is not really a dribbler, he is a quick passer with good delivery and decent height to get on the end of balls in. Insigne though is a very fast dribbling winger, someone who would be a good signing for Chelsea.}

12 jul 2018 13:09:06
all players sent home from training. here we go.

I think Sarri is probably a big Willian fan, hope we go for top class wide forward/ winger to replace Pedro though, give competition to Willian if he stays,

Leon Bailey or Pulisic won't be bad, but I am scared of their transfer fee.

Hudson odoi to replace Pedro plus we still are one short a left footer would be good.
