And I think we can all agree that Kepa has fit in brilliantly.

And i would add that when we play in the Champions League next year, Kepa's ability to actually pass the ball will become even more important. Cortois was a liability when pressed.

To be a little bit fair to Courtois, a lot of the goals wouldn’t have been saved by any keeper. Real Madrid’s defence has been chopped and changed a lot.

No mistaking it, Courtois is a snake but despite everything we can’t call his ability. He’s one of the best 3 keepers in the world. I don’t like what he did to us but he’s a superstar goalkeeper!

I’m not being negative I’m very happy with how the season is going and love every player, but what is the big deal about Jorginho? Pundits and posters rave about how many passes he completes but there all backwards and sideways? He’s not a good passer going forward and usually messes up the easy forward passes.

Why is he rated so highly? Dictating the tempo? I remember Mikel doing that and passing sideways and backwards and he’d get slated.

I do support him I hope the posters don’t take this as me being negative I just don’t see him being a top player, important to the system yes but not a great player.

Thoughts?

It is a difficult one though, is Kante good enough with the ball to play the passes out of trouble like Jorginho does? Does he have the leadership and mental knowledge to orchestrate the midfield? Glad it’s sarris job and not mine.

{Ed001's Note - you don't need a player like Jorginho to do that. Man City don't have one, Liverpool don't have one. The only top sides that do are Atletico and Barca, and Barca only use one because they couldn't find a Kante-type for the role. Kante winning the ball back and playing a pass, which will go forward 9 times out of 10 as that is the kind of player he is, is far more useful than the ball going to Jorginho, then back to Jorginho, then back to Jorginho again. Every other pass, almost, is going to Jorginho and so the team actually goes nowhere.}

I said this after the first few games, he’s decent but nothing special, most claimed he had that vision like Fabregas but I couldn’t and still can’t see it. I’d rather see Kova there in a sort of Morris kind role he is better defensively and way better technically. Jorginho is light weight and not quick enough.

Like standard and Ed001 I’m not slating him, I’m just honestly restating what I said on here after the first four five games. Kante should be back to his position or maybe Kiva should have a run there with Kante and RLC/ Barkley in the cm roles.

That is true Ed001, I just feel currently none of our players are used to the system sarri is trying to implement bar him. We’re still playing the ball around so slowly and that’s something that needs to improve. Sarri seems stubborn though and has said he won’t play Kanté in defensive mid so there’s that gone.

{Ed001's Note - I agree with not playing Kante as a DM, you saw that didn't work when he played there initially under Conte. He just needs to be in CM, rather than on the right of midfield.}

I actually like Jorginho. Most of our attacks go through him, his very composed when pressed. His an upgrade on Fabregas for me.

{Ed001's Note - he is dreadful when pressed and that is why you lost the games you have, as opponents just press him and he falls to pieces. He is not the only one to be fair, Fernandinho is the same at City, but very few teams ever press him for some reason.}
