Ed I was just wondering what the club takes into consideration when sending players out on loan and whet if any sort of agreement is put in place. Josh went to Swansea and surely this was to get some experience by playing in matches yet he spends all his time on the bench at Swansea. If that is the case surely he should have stayed at Chelsea or went to a club even in a lower league where he is going to get playing time. {Ed002's Note - It is case-by-case. It will do him good to train at Swansea. At his age you cannot demand games or no one will take him. The most important factor is for him to grow as a player.}

we can win the title next year ? what do you think melbourne,CFCmatt, SHED END, PB and PR!

I think we need CL football in order for the to be possible mate. But i do love the positive attitude.

Melbourne CFC

Agree0 Disagree1

Yeah i think we can, i think you only need 3 or 4 world class players to win in it as long as the rest of your team are decent and hardworking, we already have class players its the players around them that need replacing, so i dont think it matters if we dont get Champions League, we dont need a world class replacement for Kalou, just a decent functioning one, look at Man U for example, i think our problem this year is our poorer players have been worse than the other top teams poorer players. With all due respect to the players it wont be difficult to improve on Kalou, Miereles, Malouda, Boswinga.

I just think we're a dominant midfielder and 2 wide men short, maybe a striker depending on how torres finishes, cant see us not buying what we need becasue its so obvious

Melbourne, Chelsea will not get a trophy, or will they get champions league.

Ok buddy, thanks for your input. It will be filed with the rest of the meaningless opinions Liverpool fans have given me in the past.

It depends what stratergy we take for next year, if we spend £200m then we have to be challenging for a title, if not we have to win the Champs league in Mr Abramovic's eyes, he cant spend another huge amount of money for no success. Or we take the youth approach, buy young players like we did this year, aim for top 4 spots and try to include some fringe players and reserve team players into the squad, the likes of McEachran, Piazon, Romeu and Lukaku for example.

Id like to see us take control of games more and sort out our slow, uncreative midfield more than anything this summer, lets hope next season were not fighting for the 4th spot again.

PB

Agree0 Disagree1

Personally I'm not all that concerned about winning the league next year, my concerns are with the way we play. I'd be happy with being in contention for the title coming in to April, but the bigger issue is our boring style of play.
You can't win the league every year but surely we can't put up with another season of the shower we've been watching this season.
Everyone's saying get this player and that player but for me you just have to look at city and utd. The difference between them is the manager. If fergie was in charge of city then they would have won the title already.
So for me the bigger issue isn't the players we should get its the correct manager we need in place.
So to answer the original question , get the right manager then yes Cfc can win the title.
Cfcmatt.

As a life long Chelsea fan, I can remember when 4th, 5th or 6th was a good season.
I do hope we are playing champions league football next year. Otherwise week days will have nothing to look forward to except for another dose of eastenders with the wife!
For me more important than european football, is to start playing some football again. We have great quality in this side, but we look so dis- jointed. Man u do not have ad good a sqyad as us, but they work as a team. I cant remember Chelsea playing like this. We always played good football.
Ps sorry bout the moody spelling. Thumbs to big for this touch screen.

Ed002 Would you say the market for the best players is going to be more competitive than it has been this summer?
I am thinking of PSG/Malaga/Anzhi etc on top of the usual 'big clubs'?
And how much do you think failing to qualify for the CL will affect our transfer plans?
I realise City signed significant players when they were not in the CL but the wages they are paying are way out of our league now I presume?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - The market will be no different. If the club fail to qualify for teh Chamions Leage there will be players who may not want to sign.}

All this talk of pep guadiola being best man for job is a joke. With our players and league he would be a flop, if any of last 5 Chelsea managers took over Rijkards team of xavi iniesta MESSI alves piqué puyol then thn wud all of done brilliant job , give pep our old team and war h is stutter again. Avb tried to play good football but didn't have the players, we need 5 new players, and cover for some overs,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The reality is Guardiola and Mourinho won't be coming...why would they? Roman will either pick someone who catches his eye or, after the AVB farce when he decided he knew best, revert back to taking advice from his army of advisors as to who he should go for. The club is rudderless and going nowhere. Too many chiefs, no strategy, just knee-jerk short-term reactions. Ancelotti delivered first season and would have been a decent mid-term risk if he had been given time and support. The Wilkins sacking showed how much the management cared about team affairs and morale and how quick they are to undermine whoever is in charge. RDM won't get the job even if he is successful because that would mean Roman admitting that it took the number 2 of the man he sacked to get things working. No coach stands a chance at Chelsea so no coach in his right mind would want to work there. The only reason they do is because of the money. If they succeed, they are rich and can bask in the glory of cracking the most pressurised job in football. If they fail...they walk away rich. Not a bad risk.
As for the Ed's here, don't dare criticise how the club is run because they will dismiss you as ignorant but curiously not attempt to explain why you are wrong. Are they Ron Gourlay in disguise?

Agree4 Disagree2

While I agree that Roman has been ruthless and sometimes in hinesight made some awful calls on signings does everyone on here forget that without him, we would still be waiting for another PL title? We would have probably never made it to a CL semi let alone 6, wouldn't have won the 3 FA cups we have since he bought the club, and all in all wouldnt be able to complain about being 6th on the table.

Get a grip fella's Roman has made our club a force in Europe. Although the last year has been hard, why the f*ck do people care about how much Roman spends? Does it affect your life? Your bank account? If you can't take the abuse from other fans about being called 'plastic' then pack it in and support rugby.

And as for the Ed's, you do realise they volunteer their time to this site, to help people get information on their clubs. It's trolls like you who constantly give them hell and abuse that would create the response's you get. If you read down Ed002 has just told us how the scouting network at Chelsea works, and who makes certain decisions. Something alot of fans appreciate.

Get back in your box mate, atleast sign your posts if you are going to criticise so that you can get criticism back.

Another great post Melbourne, I think with the market nowadays we will need to pay a fair bit for players, just how it is. Fans need to face facts.
Another great post though.

I honestly believe Chelseas management team needs an overhaul. First off there are enough directors for a nations government much less a football team. There's too many people giving input on the squad. This leads to less autonomy and consensus within the club. Second for everything Roman does well (the clown that said he's our down fall is a bafoon) I just wish he would keep his hands off. Whenever he was attending training at the end of AVBs tenure I believe everybody's stress level went through the roof and how would you like the person who signs your checks lurking over your shoulder 24/7? He also should have little to no control with the way things are run. He should hire people who he trusts (I'm not saying yes men) that will move the club forward. Third I wish once they appoint a new manager that we can bring in an assistant who is a former player and a players coach that will work as a middleman between the squad and manager. Ray Wilkins was phenomenal at what he did. I truley think having that person would go a long way. I will also say if RDM isn't hired permanently I would let him go because if a player is disgruntled with the new manager and sees RDM in the wings there's a good chance he will think if I get the current manager out then things will go back to the way they were.

Hi Ed

whats going on with Romeu? seems a long time to be in the shadows and now not even on the bench. far better DM than anyone playing at the moment. heard a chelsea rumour he had a training ground spat with JT. sounds typical. {Ed002's Note - There is nothing wrong with him. He was on the bench on Monday. He had a knee injury and then a virus.}
